Losing weight is 80% diet and 20% exercise. Eat good, exercise good, and sleep good.

I have the myfitnesspal app and have logged my food for 20 days straight.
My problem is I'm not sure the ounces or grams of some foods.

Would a good food scale be the solution.

Last night I bought a pack of sirloin tip steaks. They were 1.19lbs raw. How do I calculate that after cooked?

Yes. If you aren't weighing your food before you cook it you could be off by a lot of kcals.

The difference between 7 and 10 oz. adds up in a hurry.

Your biggest challenge is to learn how to eat less. A lot less. Once you learn how to do that, the rest is easy. Living with hunger pain is involved, but it subsides over time.

Training might affect your muscle mass but diet for most people accounts for wayyy more of the calorie overrun/underrun than exercise or lack thereof.

You're looking at things from one side of the coin. You bring up calories like diet is the only contributing factor. Expending calories has the same effect as taking less in through food and you get the other benefits that diet alone can't offer. Diet is very important. I'm not arguing against that.

Low carb for a month and walk quickly 3 miles a day. You will lose the weight. When I saw low carb I mean almost no carbs. None.
30 days may not be enough but if not you will just need to continue.

Oh I totally agree with you there, it's just that from a practical point of view, for most people it is much more difficult to burn 100 calories (jogging/walking a mile, say) than it is to cut 100 calories out of their diet (skipping a single coke).

consume 1500 - 1800 calories per day

run 30 minutes 5-6 days per week (or whatever you can handle to start)

Once every two weeks have a cheat day of no more than 2800 calories. Helps keep sanity and focus.

the weight will fly off if you stay committed and honest with yourself about your intake.

you're right about that. And there's the rebound effect of being even hungrier after cardio, so really need to watch the calories. Best cardio you can do for weight loss is push yourself away from the table.

This is really the hard part about weight loss. It's a simple equation when you dig down to the root of it, but following through with consistency and attention to the little things you eat (bread before dinner, alcohol, snacks during the day, etc.) is the hard part.

Also I think people discount how important it is to eat things with fiber and/or protein so you feel full enough that you aren't looking for other shite to eat during the day.

This. I normally eat a salad with a lean protein for either lunch or dinner and if I dont I try to eat a really big salad with light dressing a little before my meal. It is really low in calories but really helps feel you up.

Reverse that and chug a 40 before you take off running and you will.

Pretty much this right here.

Find out your caloric daily goal to maintain, lets say 2,200 calories. Go below that depending on how much you want to lose per week. So, 500 is normally the normal so drop to 1,700 calories per week and include exercise.

Cut out:
Sodas
Breads
Rice
(Starches)

Drink: Water

Eat:
Greens
Chicken
Fish

You could take vitamins also, such as fish oil, multi-vitamin and some sort of CLA/L-Carnitine supplement to help with the body fat around your waist.

If you are going really extreme, go to the gym 5-6 days a week. 3 days a week is for maintenance normally.

No matter what happens 3,500 calories = 1 pound of fat. The difference in what you burn off and eat will determine the pounds you lose throughout that week. It's going to be really hard work, but suck it up and remember your goals.

Yep. Energy in vs energy out. Eat clean because it will only help the process and you will look and feel better

maybe i'm not as informed on fasting as a dieting technique, but it really doesn't seem healthy to me

if what ive posted is wrong, please feel free to disprove it. This shouldn't be a "your wrong, youre dumb, haha, im so great" type of topic....

it should be one where the correct information is posted.

as far as red meat causing cancer....correlation does not equal causation period. There is zero evidence, i repeat zero that has shown any causation nor where other lifestyle choices taken into account.

and just because you are ignorant on intermittent fasting doesn't mean it is healthy. go read leangains.com and read the studies linked there.
