I was hearing an owl "hooting" earlier when I was working in the garage. I just took my dog for a walk and when we were coming back home I see this huge owl flying around the entrance of my garage. It had a huge wingspan.

Does anybody else think Owls are just creepy as hell?

Flying back to Houston with its tail between its legs?

They're awesome. See them frequently.

We used to have a huge one at the house I grew up in. It would sit on top of this fountain in my parents courtyard and hoot, which was way louder than you would think. It was always really cool to get to see it out there

They've traditionally been cast in media as creepy animals.

There's one that lives in the attic of the shop where I work. Beautiful bird, but the guys on the floor are always sweeping the pellets (idk what they're called) she leaves behind. They're also scared to go in the attic as she just recently had babies. She's one territorial bitch

One of the coolest thing about owls is their stealth. They make no sound when flying and attacking their prey.

I found out first hand that they make no noise when flying. Went out to the back of my house one night. It was pretty dark with only moonlight. Out of the corner of my eye,I see a dark movement. A huge owl had swooped down from a branch almost directly toward me. He flew pretty close to me and I swear that he never made a sound. Not even feathers rustling.

effective predators.

once upon a time, I asked one of my kids, what do you think that bird eats.
it was some huge predator bird flying far up in the sky. she said, "deer". She was maybe 4 or 5, much smaller than a deer. I realized that from her perspective, there are some scary things in nature.

three years ago I had a predator bird attack me.
that was pretty exciting. he buzzed me.
I had to duck behind a bridge railing to not get hit by his claws.

I took a walking stick from then on.

Owls are awesome. Used to stop and visit this barn owl at the raptor rehab center at LSU every week for awhile. Looked exactly like this
