The Phoenix area looks like it has a pretty good highway system but is it clean?

Sides of roads are still wayyy cleaner than in LA.

Plus its dry as shite so it seems like trash would linger longer.

Not really, any trash is usually blown away by the wind. It gets pretty windy at night in the desert(and during the day as well).

Only place that looks similar to LA roads is the areas in the Indian reservations and the Mexican hood areas.

Those dead dogs you see were bait dogs or lost a dog fight and were summarily pitched on the side of the road by a son of Obama, or a Dreamer.

That ain't shite. You should see the trash in California. The bay area highways are littered with garbage. Cardboard boxes, bottles, plastic bags, clothes. You name it.

I did notice the strong smell of urine in the air when we stopped at a gas station north of Oakland. Saw several homeless people walking around.

Union Parish?

Not Union Parish, we have inmates pick it up. Don't get caught throwing trash out on the ground at the dumpster sites either.

La is full of animals that love to die on the road. He was probably seeing coons or nutrias.

Pickup trucks are a huge contribution

I was traveling down to Freeport Tx for about a year and there were a lot of pickups on the road but not near as much trash. Going back to La it's like night and day.

It's the smokers. They inhale carcinogens, blow them in your face, then throw the butts on the ground as if they disappear and not accumulate as litter.

Without a doubt a lot of areas are disgusting. Little podunk town where the hunting camp is at is just awful. The ditches are just completely full of cans and fast food bags. I can't understand how people don't get fed up and clean it or how anyone has the audacity to toss trash out of their car so easily.

In the more "metropolitan" areas. I blame the local governments fully. In the rural areas, it's the redneck/coonass residents. They are too stupid to realize littering is awful and also too stupid to make enough money to fund the local government to pay for cleaning it up. They double down on trashiness.

I notice it in rural areas of other states though, so it's not just LA. But we are pretty good at it.

Dude, you should move. Very little trash in the North Bay.

Less educated people tend to litter more. La is always in a 3 way race to the bottom with MS and AL in many categories, education being one.

I have two in-laws that are really bad about this. I do my best to set a good example, and to shame them, when I witness them littering. Hasn't worked yet.

But I'm not going to say there are more trashy people down there. I think litter is just part of the culture, unfortunately.
