I invented a game to get my kids interested in football for Thanksgiving.

8 and 5 year old. They were watching the dog show with my wife and had no interest in watching football. I had to take action.

So the game is as follows. Each quarter I flip a coin. The winner gets to pick the team they think will score first in said quarter. If their team scores a touchdown first, they get a dollar. If they score a field goal first, they get 50 cents. For the rest of the quarter, if they score a touchdown, they get 50 cents, a field goal 25 cents. Each quarter we start the process over.

I've never seen my kids more interested in football.

Turning them into degenerates before they hit puberty. That's a bold strategy cotton.

You would go broke in a big 12 football game.

Lulz. I'm giving them a small incentive to learn about the game. It's their choice to play.

Teach them the parlay bet and get your money back in the second half.

No shots? Every time Romo has a dumbass look on his face take a shot. Kids will be asleep early.

Well, I thought about giving them a bump of coke per touchdown, but my wife thought that would be inappropriate. She is my better half for sure.

You're just teaching them to gamble.

And just like gamblers, they don't give a frick about football either.

They're not putting up any money to lose. It's all winnings.

Your wife is correct. Coke will have them up all damn night. Shots will knock the out though.

Wow. In all honesty I'm shocked by some of these responses. My kids are not putting any money up to lose. They're getting excited about the game and we're enjoying time as a family. Would it have been better if I would have given them a toy? Now they get to buy their own toy with no risk. Or they could save the money. Is it because of the nature of football? What if it was a spelling bee prize? I guess whatever. To each his own. We're enjoying the game.

You bribe your kids to do stuff with you, and now you're all pissy cause of internet comments?

Man card revoked.
