I have some serious questions about how you get lost in the Alabama woods for 30 days....

Lisa Theris, 25, of Louisville, had been missing for nearly a month when she emerged from the wood line on Highway 82 over the weekend and was spotted by someone driving by....He also revealed that Lisa lost 50 pounds during the weeks she was on her own in the wilderness. Hungry and thirsty, officials said it was very disorienting for her and she kept getting turned around. Search teams, equipped with dogs, covered a lot of ground looking for her, but there were so many miles to cover in the thick woods.

I checked on google maps...Alabama is 300 miles x 180 miles. You could literally walk across the state in 30 days. She was smart enough to figure out how to survive for 30 days but could not figure out how to walk a straight line.

Seriously....it isn't like there is a shortage of water in Alabama. If she walked a straight line she would have come across something to follow (fence, road, creek, Saban signs) or been able to hear human activity (roadways, construction sites, gumps screaming Roll Tide). How stupid can you be?

Obligatory Pics:

When I was in land navigation school I was surprised to that walking a straight line is actually harder than one may think. We tend to invariably gravitate to one direction when we walk. Given enough area, waking in circles is not uncommon

This is why men don't have to stop and ask for directions.

it doesn't really need to be a straight line...just a general direction.

I could see her panic, become dehydrated, not want to move from a certain spot.

I could see this happening in he Rocky Mountain states or up in the Pacific Northwest.

I know much of Alabama is rural land, but.....

Is it even possible to walk through the Bama woods for 30 days and not (even accidentally) just stumble across a road or highway? Then just follow that.

Story doesn't add up. She must have been high af.

Looks like the 50# weight loss did her some good. She was a little chubby going into the woods.

Might be a good idea for the men here with fat wives.....drop them off in the woods and pick em up a month later

At night you can hear an automobile for quite some distance. Esp a train.
No way u could get lost in Bama.
Maybe in a Louisiana swamp.

You have failed to mention that the two guys she was "camping" with before she was lost have been arrested for something.
However, the story still doesn't add up to me.

Oh, and this occurred much closer to Auburn than tuscaloosa. So, it would have been Gus signs and War eagle chants.

Maybe she was spending 30 days in Alabama anyways and that was her best option to stay away from the gumps and barners, I don't blame her.

The sun doesn't always rise and set due east and west. Although one would think it would provide a general enough direction to assist her. Pretty much boils down to her being a female. Most of 'em don't know directions. My wife is college educated and has more common sense than most people I know yet she gets her directions mixed up frequently.

that isn't relevant to her being lost for 30 days.

Seems like they would have found her sooner, then.
