I have an enormous head.

Went to Academy looking for a bike helmet. They had about 100 in stock. Not one fit my pumpkin.
Drove to Dicks. They had all of two (2) that fit. Lady watching me try hats on and none of them fit. I felt so demoralized.
Anybody here pushing the size 8 envelope?

I do as well, but it is proportional to the shaft so it's not a bad thing

Not quite - my son in law is right at an 8 hat size. He's a big ole boy, though.
My situation is a little different - I'm "mid sized" overall, but with an oversized noggin (big brain and all, I suppose). I wear "large" hats and helmets.
True story - funny story - before going to Iraq, I went through RFI to get fitted for an army combat helmet. The guy handing out the helmets walked around with a stack of mediums and handed one to everyone except this big, Viking looking dude (6'3", 230#, easily). He stopped after he handed me a medium - measured my head and took the medium back. He brought back a large for me and the Viking.
Good times...good times.
