I don't really have that many black friends

I know this may sound ridiculous, but hear me out.
It seems like the more I progress in the working world, the less interaction I have with other blacks. I have friends of many different races and religions, but they are mostly white.
My friendship is not tied to race, but sometimes I wish I had more black friends I could speak to. You know how sometimes you just want to speak to someone similar to you.
Is this something that just naturally happens? Do any of you have Black co-workers who are the token Black or make up a small section of your company. I realize that in cities like Atlanta or New York, this may be a non-issue.
I realize that I am probably being too sensitive about race and need to just let things work out naturally. I just wanted to share this.

Sounds like you're successful, surely not a token. Unless I don't fully understand the term.

People don't want to associate with people who look like they do. People want to associate people who think and behave like they do. That often slices the same direction as race due to cultural variations but not always.
