Aside from the emissions scandal, this car & the dealership have been very underwhelming. So the car won't go into any gear, wrench symbol flashing meaning "automatic transmission malfunction " drive to dealer immediately. Well since I can't get it in gear, has to be towed.

So the guy calls me back, says spilled Coke of some sort has shorted out the gear shifter mechanism & warranty won't cover it to tune of $1400. I've got a 13 yr old F-250, no telling how much has been spilled, still runs. I've had about 9 cars in my life, all makes & models minus VW, never such a ridiculous issue. I bought it new, has 34K miles, & it's useless bc of spilled drink. It's that dang delicate? If I was physically there when he told me that, good chance it was getting ugly. After few choice words, I told him I'd call him back.

Ok, I'll just get it fixed cheaper at a local VW mechanic. Nope. The guy said he can't even get the part bc of some VW security thing, basically ensuring I have to get it repaired at dealer. What a scam!

Oh, I also had a blowout (have stupid tire insurance) & they wouldn't cover it bc of some fine print BS. I've never seen any business go this much out of their way to not accommodate a well paying customer. Also can't give me a loaner, only have 6 on lot, all in use. Oh they were nice enough to tell me I could rent a car! What!! How bout you pay for the dang rental car. No sense of customer service at all. Oh & never mind the shrapnel in the airbag that you have no parts for. This car is going back as fast as it can & will never buy another VW.

Then you wouldn't be running bc of spilled blood. You can't expect us to believe that a guy who drives a VW can kick some arse.

Go to another dealership. If they won't fix, escalate to corporate. With all the shite VW is going thru, corporate will probably jump thru hoops for customer service.

God, I love when a thread doesn't go like it did in the OP's head.

To be fair, I don't know of many dealers that will warranty self inflicted damage to your vehicle.

Look for more of this.

VW is in a cost-cutting mode and denying warranty claims is the first line of defense.

What kind of car gets disabled from Coke?

Most electronics don't hold up well when you dump liquid on them.

As could I, but interior components and computers are secured and encased pretty well.

7thward posting in a car thread without recommending a Dodge Charger/Challenger is shocking.

Car interiors of every major brand can pass the "Coke" test.

Did he literally pour Coke into the transmission?

Oh no it's going exactly like I thought. I can't recall spilling a drink, sure might've happened. Those thighs happen in all kinds of cars. My point is it shouldnt render a 40K vehicle useless. I'm not asking for a new car, just a loaner considering how apparently shitty it's put together. And like I said, this isn't first issue with this dealer. They tried to hide the fact that I was due 1K at signing bc of promotion. I had to call them back & fight for what they should've given me. They crawfished on the tire insurance. They are shadier than your normal dealer. Ok yea, my fault something spilled, but let's not try at all to help the customer. Every single one you guys has spilled something near your cup holder near the shifter. And did it completely shut down your nearly new vehicle? No, it did not.

Yeah, I was talking to the local service guy at Subaru who had just left the vw dealer, because they had gone to shite, and he said that they have no idea how much money they are going to be paying out over legal issues in the future, but realize it's a lot, so they are now extremely stingy. He also went on to say that he wouldn't be surprised if vw had to abandon us market all together.

No sir. Early 30s.

I just take care of what I own and don't expect someone to repair my disasters for me at their expense.

I think it sucks for OP, but the dealer shouldn't eat it because he's a messy drinker.
