The difference is that those manufactures didn't just come out of nowhere and try to pass off a significantly more expensive car as direct competition for the established luxury brands. They did it under a different name from the get go. Hyundai tried that, and clearly they've decided it isn't working, hence the rebrand.

Oh, so your problem with Hyundai is that they didn't create a luxury car line earlier than what they are doing? Makes sense, I guess.

You're the one not understanding the argument. I get that other manufactures have made luxury brands. But they have not gone about it in the way Hyundai is doing with the Genesis line.

You're right about this. I didn't understand the argument. Maybe because I don't see what this has to do with the car manufacturer's reputation. And, I really don't care how, why, or when they decided to create a luxury car line. Doesn't mean crap to me what they do.

You obviously have a problem with the manufacturer if you are making an argument about WHEN they decided to re-brand their luxury line. Which doesn't have shite to do with anything.

My advice is just don't ever buy a Hyundai or Kia brand automobile. They became the fourth largest automobile manufacturer in the world without business from you or myself. I'm sure they will continue to prosper and even grow now that they are creating a luxury car line to compete with the big boys, even without our future business.

But, I am a lot more open to doing business with them after reading this thread and the little bit of research I have done on them tonight.

i think everyone needs to look at overall back end cost of owning a Hyundai or a BMW. I would venture to say that a BMW would cost you twice what the Genesis will run you. Hyundai builds the second most reliable brand on the road behind Toyota in my recent experience.

Box is just a poser who tries to very hard to impress people with status symbols. It is about name brand and prestige with him. He got so pissed at me two years ago in a Masters Tournament thread because I am a Masters badge owner , AKA Tournament Patron, and he will never get to attend the hallowed grounds of Augusta National. He was so jealous that he just started attacking me out of the blue and insinuating that I was lying. So get this....I took a photo of my badges against a piece of cardboard and drew a big circle. Inside it read "Masters Patron Circle of Trust." My name was inside the circle and his was a dot way outside the circle. LOL! He is such a pretentious douche who can't be put in his place enough.

Listen Lunchbox, I was going to petition Billy Payne to get you off of the Masters Patron blacklist but after reading this thread I see that you are still not ready or mature enough. Quite frankly, I am not sure you ever will be ready. What a shame.

I sold my e39 M5 for a new f10 550i about 3 years ago. The f10 is light years worse in terms of handling and road feel. It's sad they've gone from a company that focused on a small number of models with a couple of different engine options in each model to a company that keeps adding more models every damn year. It's why I believe the vast majority of their vehicles are mediocre now. Sure, there are some gems in their lineup, but they are scarce these days.

If someone had told me 10 years ago that Caddilac would make a sedan that is better than an M5 in pretty much every way ( except brand panache) I would have cried from laughter. Well, here we are. CTS-V is a better performing car than the current M5.

The E39 M5 is probably the best production BMW ever built.

I would buy/drive any Cadillac car in the current lineup if I wasn't in school right now. This is coming from a former E39!owner.

Remember this lunchbox? Look at you way outside of the circle. You were only one jealous douchebag talking shite that day but as usual, the biggest shite talker of all. You talk so much shite on this board that your memory bank can't even store shite past a year. shite gets erased to allow for the next entry of shite talking data. Bull shite story my arse! The only bull shitter here is you and everybody knows it. LOL!

It's sad really. The F10 forced my hand a bit since I had fallen in love with the E12 I owned when living out west after college. I knew I was going to buy another one, but the F10 has just changed too much to even want it. So, I bought the last hydraulic steering, naturally aspirated I6, manual transmissioned 5 series I could find. It's an E60, which doesn't look as good as the E34 or E39, but it grows on you the second you press the clutch in. The steering feel is amazing and the car loves being above 4500 rpms. They made s ton of E60s and this one is right toward the end of the production cycle, so it's pretty ironed out. I plan on keeping it forever. I have a good indy and I do the old school maintenance schedule. I'll cry if she ever gets wrecked.

Not boring or ugly in person. A friend of mine is a finance manager at a dealership, and we took one to lunch. It is extremely plush, and has as impressive an interior as any luxury car I've seen. The sticker on the one we were in was $72K.

I'd rather have an A8 but...
