We are looking into buying a new mattress. This will be the first time I have ever purchased a mattress. I couldn't believe how expensive they are- looking to keep it under $1200

Where are you located? If in Baton Rouge, Go see my friends at BR mattress. Great people with great prices that can't be beat anywhere, trust me. Open 7 days a week and I think they're doing a pretty big Memorial Day sale.

Casper or purple. Purple might have the edge.

IDK how this helps, but the guy that manages all the br/Hammond mattress firms in the region(I think that's how he described it, def a mid-level manager) took us in for 4 days while stranded during the flood.

One of the best people I've met, I always recommend people to give him their business. It was right after Alton Sterling too which to me made it an even more profound story, given that our races are different.

We bought a King from Brooklyn Bedding. Similar to Casper/Purple, yet had better reviews. We have loved it since day 1.

Memorial Weekend is a great time to buy a mattress. You can likely pickup a $4500 one for $3200 or so.

ETA: I'm assuming a normal King sized, not California King.

Tuft & Needle... but if you're going to buy, buy soon. Just got an update that they're raising their prices from $600 to $750.

Literally best $600 I ever spent.

Look on Amazon. We got a King Size gel and frame/headboard/footboard for about $600+. Best purchase ever.

Saatva inner spring online. I would never buy a mattress in a store and deal with the salesmen.

Inner spring is better for sex than foam.

Our Tuft and Needle is the best mattress I have ever had. Bought a second one and put it at my father in law's house for when my husband has to sleep over there when his dad is having a bad night.

Eta..I love their guarantee, too.

We purchased a king Zinus 12" memory foam mattress off of Amazon for $300 and the accompanying frame for another $100 and love it. It's on the medium firm side, but especially great if you're a side sleeper.

What's so funny? That he doesn't want to overpay? Many quality mattresses to be had under $1200.
