1st. Your carburetor is most likely gummed up from not running the gas out of it before you put it up for the winter and the octane broke down.
2nd, You ran the battery down trying to start it and it didn't have a whole lot of juice in it to begin with due to sitting up for a few months.
I used to sell Lawn mowers, in specific Husqvarnas, when I was in college. I can almost guarantee it is a carb problem causing it to not fire. Also, I would advise draining all of the gas and putting new in while charging the battery. Maybe you can flush the bad gas out the carb. Do not put carb cleaner in it though if you don't have to. It can damage the softer metal the engines are made from in small engines.
