This looks familiar...except with the potential for way more dead in Hispaniola. Not good.

Looking farther out, the way both GFS and Euro have the high pressure setting up puts all the Irma targets back under the gun.

Hoping it just stays an excuse man.

Historically, a storm like this cuts north of you this time of year. Of course history means about dick to an individual storm, but definitely better than history saying you're fricked.

I'm betting it's a fish storm and will go out to sea. I'm basing this on absolutely no facts other than that's what they do this time of you. I don't know why they do it, but they do it

Just this morning she's gone from a blob to a clear tropical cyclone and is looking like the definite beginnings of a hurricane. One would assume that it'll become TS Maria here soon.

Hopefully, it stays well south of the hardest hit areas. There are a lot of temporary structures associated with the response and even TS force winds can damage tents and what not.

Where is this supposed to go eventually? I know there is huge inaccuracy possible at 5+ days out, but will this thing likely stay away from The US or head into the gulf? Some feature is likely to curve it into the Atlantic, right?

Check out Levi's (we're totally on first name basis now, like besties) latest update from today

Tropical Tidbits - Sat 9/16

He shows it going up the eastern seaboard or out to sea with his arrows, but doesn't say "it'll take one of these paths" or anything like that so his arrows may just be examples.

This time of year it's slightly more likely to curve out to sea or brush the east coast, but as we've learned they have a mind of their own and there's several different factors at play that steer them.

My BFF Levi also said that he expects it to become a hurricane in the next 24-36 hours

GFS and Euro both have it hitting NC outer banks

So by the logic of folks here that means Mobile landfall, its the most logical path
