Sounds like deceleration. That's a fault of mine from time to time. For me, it's just a matter of getting that feel back after a long layoff. I've got to start swinging more in the fall/winter months.

Having to relearn everything every March/April is a PITA.

Thats 100% what it is and its mental for me. I can feel it happening and can't stop it.

It'll disappear after a few more rounds, but its the most infuriating thing I deal with in golf. When I used to play competitively I pulled pins on chips, now I my hands shake with fear

Damn dude

I just usually end up tossing the wedge at the cart and putting the rest of the way. OR I'll step right up to it and hit it perfect on the second try.

My #2 is a frickin beast

How's your golf game coming along?

played 18 for the first time in 18 months last week

driving range was closed due to water so just got up on the first tee and started swinging

when i was playing regularly i was in the low 90's, high 80's (i just started playing a few years ago), so when i shot a true 103 after taking a year and half off with no range time, i was pretty happy about it

my 2-3 year plan is to shoot 85 regularly, we'll see how that goes, tough to get out there with 2 young kids

Same. I putt if I have any sort of an opening to do so. I putt from 20 ft off sometimes now.

Also, I love playing by myself and playing like 5 or 6 balls around the green if no one is behind me on a slow day. That repetition around the green will help me get it back.

I think we all know that feeling. Think shorter back swing, set hands, and go. What's the worst that could happen, you go a little long?
That's how I got over it at least, Bon Chance

I'd just say slow it down, stand behind the ball pre-shot, pick a point between the ball and the target and try to hit "through" that intermediate target. Be sure to align the clubhead first, then your shoulders, then your feet.

To kind of build off of what he said, I stand behind the target and pick a spot about 3 feet in front of the ball in line with the target.. Step up to the ball and align myself to hit it at that spot. Jack Nicklaus was a firm believer in that method. I noticed at the Masters Par-3 contest he still used it.

I think we have the same game. I just played for the first time in 6 months and shot an 81 with all the same issues as you...couldn't make a putt, no confidence around the greens, baby fade wasn't working, etc.

I was 6 over through 5 and was able to turn it around somewhat, but with the way I was striking the ball(after shaking off the initial rust) if I had any confidence around the greens it could have been a great round.

I'm blaming the chipping on a new SW and soggy conditions...putting is a whole different story.

You're pretty young to be having all this back trouble.

Must be genetic.

Yeah, this time of year can make you feel stupid. I know I was doing that last fall

No doubt, with this weather, it's hard to get motivated and slosh around in the wet to practice.

Hoping the next few days dry out the courses to enjoy a round.

I did order my first Scotty Cameron putter a few days ago, should be in today. Hopefully I can give it a go this weekend.

To answer your question, yes. It does help.

Now if you've got something MAJOR going on, I can't attest to that. I've always had back trouble, and it does a good job of "decompressing" my spine. I've been told it's great for allowing fluid to get between the joints and discs and what not. I believe it. I usually try to use it before and after rounds. I've noticed a big difference. Stretching before a round is always a good idea, too.

The biggest tip I can say that has helped my game is use all of your wedges. If you have a LW, don't take it out on every pitch shot. Use your SW/GW or even a 8 or 9 iron to get the ball rolling on the green towards the target on line quicker, it turns into more of a putt.

Somebody watched Breed last night.

I actually like using my 8 iron to chip when I have a bunch of green to cover. After watching the pros drive all week, I'm convinced you need a caddie telling you "Wind just a tad off the right"to hit better drives.

Seriously though, they all have a set routine and when they aren't quite comfortable they'll start it over again (in Keegan's case again and again and again). Of course when you are playing for the money they are, you better take your time and do it right.

We are very similar. Eerily similar in fact

I was stroking it from 200-in. Great ball striking and would just screw up all my birdie opportunities around the green. It got to a point where I'd stop going at Par 5's in 2 and would lay up to 120 because my GW from 120 has a better shot of sticking it close than my chipping from 10 ft off the green.

You talking about the guy on Golf channel? I've honestly never watched any of his segments. Only seen him on commercials during Golf Channel coverage.

My dad is very old school, carries 4 wedges (as do I). He always preached short game, and using all of your wedges.

I shot nine Friday AM before going to Zurich and shot 43 on the back nine, with 5 3 putts(2 were from the fringe). Still working on a hook but I'm getting fixing it somewhat. I can also go out and shoot 110 if I'm having an off day. Consistency is really tough for me... I've been "putting" with my 6i off the fringe and having good results.

We can talk about golf here?

I have been in the low 80s consistently again after struggling through the winter. Every round I'm just a few stupid mistakes from being in the 70s. Hopefully I can play Sunday.
