2 bed and 2 bath apartment. Rent is 2000 per month. Mirror Image layout both bedrooms and both baths are the exact same size.

First case scenario two people living in the apartment each with their individual bedroom

Second case scenario 3 people living in the apartment two people sharing a bath and bedroom

What would you suggest the rental breakdown should be in either scenario?

The 1 person will want 66/33 obviously , but realistically it's 60/40

First scenario is obvious, each pay 1000, seems like a no brainer.
Second scenario is I bang the roommates girl whenever I want and if that bitch cooks and cleans too we just keep each paying half

$1000 each if each have a bedroom.

If splitting, then $1000 from the guy with one room and $500 each for the splitters. But the splitters would take more share of utilities.

Split evenly on rent. Split utilities 66/33.

Not even going to comment on first scenario.

Second is 50/25/25

Or 69/31/0 if your a bitch and you let your roommate frick your girl

Eta to add: the 60 is you, 31 is the BBC roomie, and 0 is the girl catching the bbc but on her forehead

Split the 2k.
He pays the electricity and water for her.
See her naked "acidently" a couple of times.
Profit?

You rent with roommates?

Don't you pretend to be some economic wiz and dabble in flipping RE for the fun of it?

Split rent 50-50 and give them a heavier share of utilities and chores.

Seems easy.

I think 60/40 is fair, because even though they're sharing one bedroom/bathroom, you're all splitting the common areas and storage. In a pure 50/50 split, the couple is getting a better deal IMHO, even if the utilities are split 67/33.

I wouldn't want to share a place with a couple though. I wouldn't want to rent with anyone I wasn't fricking actually, but I know sometimes it can't be helped.

Split 3 ways. Utilities obviously split like this.

They will argue they share private areas, but you were never gonna use those areas anyway, even with a single roommate. 2 roommates means you have to share common area with another person now, including kitchen, laundry, etc.

I don't waste my time solving poor peoples problems.

The only answer is you pay $2,000 and tell the other two to frick off, turn the 2nd bedroom into the man cave.

Frick room mates and their drama

40%-30%-30%. Utilities thirded. You would be better off buying a decent condo and bringing them with you. Rent doesn't build equity.

So? If you want to ask for a slight skew, whatever, but I wouldn't stress over it much. As long as the chores and utilities split up, who cares if there's an extra person passing in the hall or kitchen. If among friends, I'm not rocking the boat over that.

The OP asked what would be the fair way to split the rent and I replied. And IMHO, 50/50 isn't the fairest way to do it. I never said he should tell them to frick off or do something to lose a friend over the situation.

Then again, they're not just passing each other in the hall like you said. The other person's significant other is going to be watching TV on the couch, cooking, doing laundry, taking up storage... You know, using ALL of the common areas. I think it's entirely reasonable that they pay a little extra (not 2/3 though).
