Last night, about 11:00, i went down to the levee to do a little night photography. When I got to the top of the levee, I see three or four kids swimming in the fountain. They were not alone, their mother (I am guessing) was there as well.

The mom (and kids) were white, but she had a fabulous North Baton Rouge accent.

these fountains are nasty!!! I have seen homeless people bathing in these things. I wonder if there is any chemical treatments in these fountains.

couple images I took last night (no picture of the mom)

Has chlorine in it I believe. I ran through it drunk and remember smelling it.

You're talking about the fountains that shoot out of the ground in front of Tsunami right?

Enough chlorine will kill just about anything that lives in water. That being said, before I would even think about getting in the fountain, I would take a big deep sniff of that water and my eyes better water with chlorine aroma.

The one between the USS Kidd & LASM?

I wouldn't go in it, but I have smelled a strong chlorine smell when I walked by so I guess they treat it with something.

No, the fountain on the levee. It cascades down different levels and then is pumped back to the top.

I'm surprised their mom was with them. Probably didn't see the father did you?

Antique: I know what you are talking about now. I seriously doubt any sort of cleaner is in those so it's probably pretty disgusting.

i don't think i have ever seen this fountain. The only ones i know of are at the top of Repentance Park and by the Shaw Center.

The old ones everyone used to be in at Repentance were demoed when the new park was built.

Nice pictures. The lakes behind the Capitol are pretty bad too. There's trash everywhere. Just seems odd that with the proximity there doesn't seem to be any concern with keeping them semi-clean.

Nice photos, but that's a real easy way to get mugged, podnuh...especially with a nice camera on hand.

That water is treated. I remember when those things were built. Was awesome to play in as a kid on 4th of July and Fest For All and such.

Looking back, that was fricking nasty when there's about 30 moms sitting on the side with their stank feet soaking in it on a HOT arse 4th of July.

They are treated with chlorine... at least in theory. I still wouldn't swim in them.
