Got furniture being delivered. Paid 150 for delivery already. Only have 20s. I feel like I should tip, but never really thought about how much to tip. Just a mattress and to chest of drawers. 10 per person (they can split a 20), or am I a cheap arse?

And I know, f**k me for starting another tip thread.

I gave my delivery guys A&W Root Beer. Seriously.

ETA : Bed, mattress, sectional, dining room.

Amigos were to the moon and back.

$10 each is fine, I usually offer them a bottle of water or something too.

some kind of water/drink..$5-$10. If they look like they might come back to rob your house, $15-20 and tell them you are just accepting the furniture for your brother that's out of town at a FBI conference.

It's their job to delivery the furniture. Tip if you want. Tip how much you want. If they do a shitty job, aren't friendly, delivered late, or you are just not in a good mood then don't tip. If they have nice calves or after checking their hands it is determined tipping is necessary then tip. Pretty easy

Tipping is out of control.

Not a fricking thing, they already get paid by their company to do the work. If they set their own prices then they should charge more.

I have a guy who tips them for me. No successful person is actually available for furniture delivery.

As a former furniture delivery guy, we are paid peanuts. $10 each for lunch made our day when a customer did that for us.

Never would I think to tip a delivery driver if I paid for delivery.

Used to deliver furniture with a friend at LSU. IDK if its like this for most furniture stores but we weren't actually employees of the company. The delivery fee was our payment. Excellent gig that was. Could "work" 2 nights a week and come out with around $250

When I had my tempur-pedic delivered- I gave the two dudes who delivered it a bag of deer meat. You'd think I gave em a hundred bucks.

One of em was the back up running back for the colts' dad....Donald Brown if I remember correctly. Or he said he was anyway...

Nothing. They make a living wage.

And for those of you that think "well good luck with your broken shite" then that is when you cancel the check or dispute the credit charge you paid with and refuse to pay until they reimburse whatever they broke.

To me this is a personal pref and what kind of mood Im in that day. Also whether theres a stair carry or some other bullshite in my house that makes the install harder. I also pay attention to whether its hot as frick. If so, I'll tip and give a nice cool drank.

Nothing, do they work for you? Or the furniture company?
Do you tip your meter reader? What about your banker? The Weather man?
