How much time did you get/take off when your first child was born?

So we have our first little GEAUXT coming in August. I'll probably be able to take a day for when she's born and then back to work the next day. Wife is taking 8 weeks, but only part of that is paid.
We were at the bank, and the lady helping us told us that at Capital One men get 7 weeks paid paternity leave, and women get 18 paid maternity leave. That's crazy talk!

My boss gave me a week and the wife got 12 months with FMLA.

3 weeks for the 1st kid.
2 weeks for the 2nd.
2 weeks for the 2nd.

I took 2 weeks vacation. No paid paternity leave for me.
My wife had 12 weeks paid, then took another nonpaid 4 weeks. It was nice.

My company let me work from home for 12 weeks. My wife was in nursing school and had to be back the next week or would have had the entire semester not count.
I couldn't imagine going back to work the next day. Your wife and baby won't even be out the hospital yet.

Get her arse back to work. Her coworkers probably hate her.

I have one due in August. Talked to my boss last week and told him I was taking 2-3 weeks.
My wife is taking the full 12 weeks of FMLA.

FMLA should be eliminated.

First child I took one week of paid paternity and one week vacation, I think. Second kid just the one week paternity but I was working while at the hospital.
#3 coming in September is coming right after my employer instituted 4 weeks paid paternity. I'll take 2 for the birth and then 2 in December that will run into my 2 weeks off for Christmas and new years.

I quit my job to stay home with the kid so my wife could work without interruption.

My husband took off 5 days with first born and 2 days with second child.

Nope. She will probably take off longer for the next one.

Why? She has enough sick leave and personal leave built up to be able to be paid for the whole time.

My son was born this January on a Saturday night. I only took off Monday and came in a couple of hours late on Tuesday. I could have taken more, but I was saving days for when my wife went back to work so I could take off and spend a few days with him then (I was also building up some goodwill to come in late a few days during turkey season)
