You would be wise to skip Paris if you are going anytime soon. The terrorist attacks and then UN climate conference you would spend more time in security lines than doing a damn thing. If it is after the first of the year then yes you are doing yourself a disservice.

I'd most likely be going solo. I have a 2 week break which is my last big break before the real world and if I can't convince someone that I would actually care to spend 2 weeks with than I'd probably just do it on my own.

Get a travel escort. Just kidding

I got through London, Amsterdam, Cologne, Lucerne, Vienna, Rome, Florence, Venice, and Paris in 16 days. I would not suggest doing that. Just go to 3-4 cities and really enjoy them for 3-4 days.

Damn that sounds intense. I guess if I had to rank cities I wanted to see it would be:

1) Berlin
2) Barcelona
3) London
4) Amsterdam
5) Paris

I mean I'd love to explore more, just trying to figure out stuff for the basic trip. Really want to go to Barcelona but it seems way out of the way of other places.

Maybe I'd be more intrigued about Paris if I researched it, but I'm not dying to go, especially if I'm solo. That said, it's literally right there if I stick to the northern part and if I made a future trip I'd probably be a ways away where it would be a pain to get there.

Yeah it was super intense. I slept on a bus, ferry or train and spent my waking hours exploring. I often refer to that trip as the Europe Buffet.

Amsterdam and Colgne were my two favorite cities. When I go back, I want a full week in Germany and another full week in Belgium.

I went with some friends a couple summers ago and we went London (3 nights)> Amsterdam (1 night)> Munich (2 nights)> Berchtesgaden (day trip)> Zurich (2 nights)> Florence (3 nights)> Cinque Terre (day trip)> Rome (3 nights).

2 weeks, 5 countries, 8 cities, 0 sleep. Best trip of my life. You can get a lot done if you never stop moving... Florence was the best stop..

Wouldn't plan anything to Paris right now and it's my favorite city in the world. Not because I think I would get killed by a terrorist, but the security at all the tourist places there is going to be insane for the next few months at minimum.

My List of Faves

1) London
2) Lisbon
3) Paris
4) Prague
5) Edinburgh

Lists like this will be very subjective though.

Lots of differing but good input here...after 2 trips, if it's your only trip you'll make to Europe I'd say:

Amsterdam > Bruges > Paris > Munich > Interlaken

Also consider: Berlin > Prague > Vienna > Budapest > Croatian coast (Dubrovnik or Split)

(Or you spend the entire 2 weeks in Italy...would be great but Italy can be a pain sometimes )

So now I'm leaning toward flying into London, spending 3 or 4 nights there(think 3 would be ideal but I'm sure I'm gonna be jetlagged the first day), train to Amsterdam for 2-3 nights, fly to Berlin for 3-4 nights, and Barcelona for the remainder of the trip (3-5 nights depending on how long I stay in the other cities).

Does this seem reasonable? I'm sure I'll go to Paris later in life, but I'd rather go with a SO and I'd like to explore France more than just Paris so I'll save that for later in life. Don't really feel like I'm going to miss out a ton not seeing it now. Thinking about leaving London out, but it's the cheapest flight I found into the continent and I feel like it would be nice to start somewhere with English as the main language. Plus I really really want to see a BPL game if it fits my itinerary.

Really shocked how cheap flights are within Europe. I know there are crazy bag restrictions but I was planning on packing light.

My brother and I did 18 days and essentially a loop of southern Spain/Italy/France.

Flew into Madrid, then took the train to Sevilla, Barcelona, Genoa/Turin, then back across France and flew out of Madrid.

We spent roughly three days in each place, and it really didn't feel rushed. Favorite place was by far Sevilla and it's Moorish architecture. Definitely recommend.

That sounds miserable, but 3 cities in two weeks is more than feasible. What route you take highly depends on what you want to see.

Its only miserable if you have poor social skills and rely on friends for reassurance. If you are miserable for two weeks exploring foreign cities, you kind of suck

Thats actually a pretty good trip planned. 2 weeks in three cities will be enough days in each city to get a feel for the place, and will give you a change of scenery without being rushed.

What you don't want to do is spend 1-2 days in 8 different places. That will be too exhausting. 3 cities would be great. Go for it.

Best trips in my life have been solo. In fact, I've done more solo travel than with someone.

Did 16 days between Venice, Amsterdam, Brussels, Ghent, Dinant, Antwerp, Brugge, and Luxembourg. Was great, could have spent all 16 just traveling through Belgium though.

You could see several countries if you just visited them for a day.

You could really see three-four cities if you did it throughly.

Rome and Paris in two weeks. There is so much to do/ see in each city but there are many day trips from each city as well. Normandy, Versailles, Vesuvius, Herculaneum, Napoli, Amalfi coast, etc.
