I grew up playing with taylor made blades (which I still have). I switched to Titleist 690 .cb's probably 10 years ago as I wasn't playing enough to consistently hit the blades. Since then how much have irons improved?

I just don't see that technology improving that much. Am I wrong?

My irons are 30 year old Hogan blades so I don't know.

My irons are roughly 20 years old and I'll be getting new ones soon, so I hope the answer is alot.

Yes.

All this while the central, sustaining attribute among ironing boards is that they make enough screeching and racket to wake the dead.

For the high handicaps iron technology is crazy better. I cannot speak much for low handicap/blades. The cavity backs now are far improved over the last 20 years. Plus, the introduction of hybrids.

interesting.

I play maybe 4 or 5 times a year. I'm definitley not good, if I'm low 90s I'm generally happy.

I play with a set of Dunlop irons that I've had for probably over 15 years. Would a newer set help me at all? I realize that my actual swing and technique is of course more important, but would better clubs save me a stroke or 2?

Odd question, the movie came out in '94.

"I

Mufasa!

If you don't have any hybrids, they most certainly will help.

I am having the same thoughts with my irons. I play a set of Spaldings that are 18 years old but were custom fitted and I am very comfortable with them. I shoot in the 90's and play 5-6 times a year. Trying to decide if its worth it to buy a new set of irons and will it make any difference? Like I said I am comfortable with my current irons and I feel like that confidence is worth something, but who knows.

Caste heads have improved.

Shafts have improved.

Forged heads, not so much.

FWIW, I started my Callaway Irons thread on the MSB and the admins moved it to the OT

A lot. But I'm older and have been playing a long time. Perimeter weighting is a game changer. Much more forgiving of my shitty swing.

The next set that I buy will be hybrids. Light years away from blades.
