How much do you tip movers?

I've never had movers before, but my company is paying for relocation. I have no idea how much the total is, because it's all going through them. How much is a reasonable amount to tip movers (for a 400 mile move)?

0 because they are being paid for the one service they provide.

I gave mine beers and found out they got fired for drinking them in the truck on their way back to drop it off.

Oops.

I tipped 10% to each (2 guys). They busted from start to finish, skipped lunch, and we're very friendly throughout the 7 hour move. Well worth it.

We buy them lunch and provide water and Gatorade. They're very grateful. And they have your possessions. I've only tipped once about 40 bucks a piece for 3 dudes.

For some reason they never come with food and rarely with drinks and we've moved 10 times. I don't understand it.

It's their job why would you tip them?

Last year when we bought our house I paid some guys from the local HS football team $20 bucks each.

Tipped them with pizza.

Clearly they aren't the brightest bulbs in the pack... I mean, they are professional movers ffs.

2 guys I hired busted their asses on a hot summer day (about 8 hours). One of them told me that he would take an hour off the bill if I tipped him and his partner $25. I gave them $50 each and thanked them for their hard work.

To
Insure
Prompt
Service

Because apparently expecting that for the price agreed upon and paid is too damn much these days.

Depends on how much you value your stuff remaining unbroken.

I bet his employer would be thrilled to know that his employee stole from him.

Welders and many other professions bust their asses every single day and don't get tipped. I really don't understand the tipping phenomenon going on right now. I mean why is it expected to tip one person for their job, but not for another person doing an equally difficult job?

Back in the days before the internet and easy background checks, movers were often excons, homeless, or just out of the drunk tank.

I remember some family friends moving across several states using a national carrier. The story was that the guys kept driving the 18 wheeler fast and reckless through traffic trying to save time. The family catches up and pulls along side telling them to slow down. The big guy driver just waves a pistol at them and drives on. Almost like something from a Chevy chase movie.

Movers don't make much money, $12/hour or so. I don't think it's enough.
