How much do you tip bellhops to haul your luggage to your room?

In most instances they're not really performing a service other than sparing me the embarrassment of rolling my own luggage through the lobby to the room. I'll give them $5 a bag with a cap of $20-25. They get a little more if an ice chest is included in the mix and they don't break a bottle.

Any hotel that has a bellhop is already dicking me for $20+/nt in "resort fees", "parking", "wi-fi", etc.

I don't mind throwing an extra $5-$20 (depending on how many bags and length of stay) to a hardworking kid. Especially if that kid is going to help me find quality cocaine and/or hookers once my bags are unpacked and I've had a few bourbons.

If you are staying at a place with bellhops and already spending $200+/nt why would you be concerned about an extra $5 tip?

$2 a bag I normally skipthis service. The worst are the guys who throw your bags around when you go on a cruise. Most of the time they literally move the bag five feet and yet the recommended tip is $3-5 per bag.

I usually just give them a $5 bill. We don't have a lot of bags when we travel.

Not tipping the bellhop is like not tipping your waiter. Trashy.
