LSU 1984 - $484.00.
Yes. Only 484.00 for 15 hours.
Based on the increase in the Consumer Price Index over the 1984-2015 period, that $484 is equivalent to $1104 in 2015. 2.28 times more. Average annual increase of 2.7%
The actual current tuition cost is $3,783. 7.82 times more. Average annual increase of 6.9%.
College tuition cost has increased at a rate of over 2 and a half times the rate of the cost of living increase.
Has the education received gotten any better?
I do understand that state funding of higher education is much less than it was in 1984 (for all the reasons currently being discussed) and that the university has to increase tuition to cover costs, but does it really cost THAT much more to educate a college student than it did only 30 years ago?

Spot on NEZ.
My first semester at LSU was in 83 and the fee bill was so cheap for fifteen hours my dad framed the canceled check he paid for the tuition along with the fee bill. When people walked in his office he pointed to it and said, "Can you believe how cheap a college education is?"

1996
900.00something
I was one year too early for tops
I was also told my act and gpa would give me a full scholly. When I went to talk to financial office they told me there was a mistake. They had me listed as black. Since I was white there was no scholly for me

Started UNO in '84 and it was around $392 or in that neighborhood. I was on a Top 10 Scholarship so they also handed me a check for around $400-500 each semester in addition to full tuition. UNO bought my rims and stereo for my Mustang GT.
