Yeah, dude was laying on the steps of a bank on like Charters and conti or something like that. It was late and not really many people out.... I had just walked through Jax Square and there was a ton of street kids out there all hyped up and fighting or reinacting a fight just riled up. I didn’t think anything about it... then came across this dude. He was passed out, but it didn’t look right so I kinda kicked him and said something to him and realized he was laying in a pool of blood.... come to find out, he had just got in a fight down there and stumbled a few blocks away alone and layed down to die I guess, and I found him.

Zero that I'm aware of. How many people dying are getting heroin after getting hooked on pills because of an injury vs just trying heroin.

I have some sympathy for those inadvertently getting addicted to some pills for a legit reason.

Anyone stupid enough to just "try" heroin or meth really is really asking for it imo.

I know a few but only one that matters. Good man, great friend. He got hooked and spent his life chasing that next high. Didn't wake up one morning. Sad thing is, when I got the call I already knew what they were going to say. God bless em.

OD'd and died? Or just OD'd and had to go to the hospital/rehab?

Only one and he died. 99% sure he overdosed on purpose.

Heard someone tell me this afternoon an LSU student OD'd and died last night.

SIAP, but hadn't read anything here yet.

I knew a couple of guys that were after Oxycontin which is Heroin in pill form. I know to people that have died but I do not think it was from a heroin overdose.

None on heroin but at least four on methadone. Two I knew well and two just casual aquaintences. Several others that I suspected might have been drug overdoses of some sort but the families kept it close.

I know of 3 guys- 1 was my cousin, the other 2 were high school buddies.

I'm not sure whether they OD'd on Heroin and/or Oxy. All three passed away.

All three were good guys, just couldn't shake the demons. One of my buddies had two young kids, a beautiful wife, and a successful career. Tragic situations.

41 years old and none but I've got a couple potentials in the works.. kills me that these guys have taken this route.. Don't know if they've hit the heroin yet but the opiad addiction is strong with them.

A guy I was about to make a major real estate investment with and who'd been clean for years started dating some sketchy girl who got him high one night and he never woke up.

One of my brother's best childhood friends met a similar demise to morphine.

I think that's it.

Does that post make you feel good about yourself?? Just curious, because you come across as a clueless, insecure, and ignorant son of a bitch.

No, I wasn't raised around druggies, I wasn't friends with druggies, and I'm not professionally associated with druggies.

By virtue of the fact that I know exactly zero druggies, I don't know any druggies that OD'd (on heroin or any drug, for that matter).

That's part of what's wrong with people these days - there's no longer a sense of pride in not being a waste. It's Hands Across America for these people who fight our police and who are addicted prescription medication or illicit drugs.

I'll support you if you want to boo-hoo-hoo for those people, but I do take pride in not having anything to do with them or their ilk.

My cousin died of a heroin overdose about 8 years ago. She was only 31. It was tragic because she had a very comfortable upbringing and fell in with a bad crowd at a young age. She was on and off of it for more than a decade, and then, one day, that was it. She was dead. The saddest part is that no one was surprised by the news.

I have never taken opiates, nor do I intend to. From what I observed in my interactions with my cousin, it can totally control your life.

The thing is, in a lot of cases these people don't present the "normal signs" of a druggie.

In my case, the guys I knew all worked, were normal guys by normal standards. No one knew that they were having as large a problem as they did.

I wouldn't consider myself as someone that was "raised around druggies". In fact, the guys I knew that passed weren't raised around druggies either. They unfortunately got introduced to it later in life and paid the ultimate price for it.

I'd recommend you get off your soapbox and have a little compassion for folks. If we're being honest, you probably are associated with a "druggie" or two and just don't know it. I hope you never have to find out like some of us did.

Where did you grow up where there were no druggies?

They’re in every town, I guess. But I wasn’t raised among them. I had decent parents and they associated with other decent people. My friends were all decent people. We had jobs, played sports, went to college. But none of them were dopers.

I can accept that sometimes shite happens, but it isn’t impossible not to associate with druggie criminals.

You've definitely known someone addicted to opioids though.
