How many of you typically make a New Year's resolution? Stick with it?

I am usually pretty good about sticking to them. This year I would like to lose 5 lbs, stop drinking for a month and stop social smoking. I should be able to do all of those.

New years resolutions are the epitome of "ill do it tomorrow". Why do you need to wait for the arbitrary turn of a calendar to better yourself? Because you know you wont do it and you are looking for a reason to put it off.

My roommate and his girlfriend are both Columbian, but they speak Spanish differently than my Cuban family does. Not sure if it is just dialect, but they can barely understand a Cuban speaking.

I never have but am going to this year. It's more of a lifestyle change than it is a resolution, though. I think that's key.

That's a bit weird. I know Cubans and Colombians and Venezuelans who all get together and understand each other pretty well. It's basically the first language in miami

They're in Miami now for Christmas. I just know we had this conversation a while back. He said Cubans speak much faster and it throws him off. He has to process what was said a moment before continuing to speak.

I never have before, but starting New Years Day I've quit drinking Sodas(Coke,Mountain Dew,etc.),no more ice cream.

And I'm basically just going to try to be a better person going forward.

I don't think I've been a bad person,but there's always ways to be better.

I know what you're saying but you can also look at it the other way. People who would never make the decision to better themselves get a spark or at least thought of doing something this time of year.

If you dont have any practice forming good habits you arent going to have any success maintaining one for a year with the main motivation being the date lol.
