How many here make their living in the oil field?

I work in the oil field and I can honestly say I'm officially getting really nervous now. My company had very little overhead and sustained this bust for as long as they could but now we are about to get hit with a significant pay cut. Before the truck nut jokes come flying in let it be known that I do not own a F250 or a set of truck nuts. I just live a normal, modest life with a wife and children.

There have been 39 threads in this recently. Please don't stir up the OT tards who are going to make truck nuts comments and lots of great deep thoughts.

I do not.

However, my entire family is/was in the oil field.

I grew up around the industry. My closest friends work in the field.

My thoughts and prayers are with y'all. They're very nervous too.

Again, that really sucks. I have a family too. I'd hate to have to go from day to day wondering if today is the day I get laid off. My FIL got laid off yesterday and he was hoping to survive another 5 years until he could retire.

Good luck brother.

I do not make my living directly in the oil field, but whatever happens in the oil field, great affects my living.

I'm 95% sure I'm safe. But that 5% scares me enough to cause me to not want to spend any money right now.

I don't make a living.

I just teach those who want to make a living, and most of my friends make a living...

So, my life is affected. Their well-being, and my student body.

I feel you Brazos. I also work in the oilfield. Just try to stay busy and not allow your mind to wander. I also do not own a F250 with truck nuts. I do also live a modest life style with a wife and children.

Things have to be getting bad. On Louisiana Sportsman first I saw F250s for sale, then the boats and ATVs, then the rims and 35" tires, and now I'm seeing used Yeti coolers being sold like crazy.

Not an O&G company but am an engineer at a shipyard and we are impacted by the oil industry. Work is definitely slow but i think i am fairly secure.

I'm also in the oilfield. Tough times seeing peers being laid off. Bad times indeed.
