this happens all the time around here...my son was home for Christmas and he used my car to visit friends. Was less than a mile from home when a huge deer slammed into the side of the car. Fortunately he wasn't hurt, but my Subaru sustained $4000 damage. I have a rental now for a few weeks.
Where you live does this happen a lot? Happen to you? How much $$ was the damage to your car?

Three times. It's a part of life in the rural Midwest.

Such a waste of resources. Isn't their limit on deer like 2 in all those states?

Should be about 5pp.

Twice I've had deer run into the side of my vehicle. In Colorado you have a lot of deer strikes in the fall as the deer move out the mountains into the valleys.

Once in Vermilion Parish. Smashed him pretty good. There was guts, hair and the contents of his bowels all over the front of my ride.

In the Midwest you don't give them a chance. Gotta speed by them

A little over a month ago here in San Antonio. Driving to work early in the morning. Buck bounced off the passenger side. Destroyed my rear view mirror. Minor dent as well. Local guy fixed if for $420 in one day. Very pleased with his work.

Happened to me while driving home after teaching a night class many moons ago, on the interstate here in central VA. Deer came out of nowhere, I had no time to react / hit the brakes / evade. Destroyed the front end of my 1982 GT Mustang. That's ok, that car was a slug anyway and I upgraded.

There are deer all around us out here in the country. I'm cautious on the backroads, but other than than what can you do.

Hit one driving down I-10 west of Katy. It was in the median and jumped in front of my car. Tore up the front drivers corner - $7k of damage.

Me. Hit the second of three does(sp) running across Rosedale road about 05:30 a few years ago. I was in a Lincoln town car. Deer went under the car and rattled around for however long it took to clear. I drove on up to Canazaro's Supermarket in Rosedale. Got out and only had damage to the bumper and grill.

Back in 07' I was passing thru a side road in Denham to get to 190 and a small deer ran in front of me. I missed hitting it, but momma deer came out and I nailed her going about 30 mph.

Didn't do much damage to my truck, but a busted grill.

My wife (gf at the time) was screaming "did this shite really just happen!!!"

I told my dad about the accident and the first thing he asked me was "why didn't you put it in the back of the truck and bring it home?"

Well it was deer season too..

I've hit 3 in the last 2 years. I live in SW Miss and leave early for work when they are out roaming the roadside. The first one actually hit me . I stopped to let a doe cross and started to get going again and bam. The buck that was chasing her ran into the side of my truck hauling arse. There have been many more close calls .My wife has hit 2 in her jeep in the last year.

Question: Do you think deer are suicidal? Seems pretty convienent that they keep hitting all these cars!

I hit a huge buck in Nov in NW Iowa. Did thousands in damage to my SuperDuty. I had no deductible thank goodness. No way the deer survived.

I ploughed over one in my Jeep a few years ago in CO. It didn't stand a chance. I was on 35's with a huge front bumper and winch. Not a scratch on the Jeep. Deer didn't fare as well.

Don't know if they're suicidal. Mine didn't leave a note

I think the ones that ran out in front of me were spooked by a four wheeler. Lots of hunters on that stretch and deer are always milling around.
