From rising sea level temperature which causes coral bleaching ( death sentence for coral), and rising acidification of oceans?

Many scientic journals report this but I know most don't believe in anthropogenic influenced climate change on this board.

Apparently global warming is hurting the reefs according to a biologist I was talking to recently.

Scary stuff.

Global warming and cooling of the earth is a natural thing.

Ask the dinosaurs.

Why is it that reefs which are heavily scuba dived upon, seem to be suffering the most from bleaching?

I do think it is human caused but not by climate change or whatever you want to call it. I think it's from chemicals coming off of humans such as deodorants and sunscreen.

If it was from climate change, wouldn't it be happening world wide?

The Keys are just old coral reef that died and was exposed due to water levels changing as ...........climate changed.

I don't even know how to respond to this.
Deotorant and sunscreen does not cause coral bleaching . Heat is what causes coral to release algae which is pretty much the blood of coral.

ETA: it IS happening world wide

While not infallible, the scientific method is supposed to ensure that any study published is accurate.

Most skeptical people have trouble with understanding how probabilities work and or are unable to accept any level of uncertainty.

Most people trying to shoot down any scientific research don't/cant challenge the actual science. They attack words in the publication such as "likely" or "in theory" and demand to know how you can make claims about something without being 100% certain.

How would I know? I'm not a scientist and I haven't done any testing.

Yes, but what most people don't understand is that a scientific study doesn't have to be based in truth. With a little grant money, anyone can start a scientific study on anything. I could start a study on whether frogs prefer white beans over red beans. Problem is, with the internet and social media, people see "scientific study" and automatically believe it's either fact or an attack on conservative beliefs.

That being said, conservatives have had their heads in the sand on true science for hundreds of years. Galileo was imprisoned for suggesting the earth was not the center of the universe.
