I probably will get my law degree one day if credentials keep rising to be a landman.

I would be pretty damn miserable studying econ or business tbh. It's not necessary for my field so I don't think I can do it. Worst case I'll get a land management degree from Western, which can obtained in a year. And I can ski Crested Butte for a year.

What do you have against Ole Miss? Where would you go out of state? (Ignoring your flair... )

If you want to do law, history is completely acceptable, as is something like philosophy or the classics (which I wish I would have done). But don't do any of those unless you know it isn't the end goal.

If that's your dig, I'd look at forestry, too. Anything ag related that incorporates business would do you well. You're more likely to get an internship with a good company if you're studying in the field.

It has a shite reputation for almost everything. For OOS, I got in to Sewanee, SMU, and Vandy, but still decided to go to Bama like a dumbass (then dropped out for two years and finished at Appalachian State lol). Like I said before, where you go doesn't matter nearly as much as what you study, and the respective school's reputation in that field.

What exactly are you wanting to do? I know that's a tough (maybe impossible) question, but it's vital in giving a good answer.

Get back in school wherever you want and work really hard on your grades. You've got plenty of time.

Look up "petroleum landman". Ideally I want to be an in-house landman for an oil and gas exploration company or start my own brokerage as a field landman.

That's funny, Sewanee is the other school at the top of my list. My visit was one of the best weekends I've ever had (and worst hangovers).

Admittedly, this isn't anything I know shite about, but my gut tells me geology/PETE + a business minor (or even double major) would do the best. Regardless, just crush CC and get in to the best programs that you can for those concentrations.

It gives some great networking opportunities, but the actual degrees offered are pretty limited from what I recall. If you like partying with rich kids in a beautiful environment, it's a real hoot.

In other words unless you go Finance or maybe Geology, you'll take a long time to get a useless degree. Congrats.

I fricked up my first year of college, did the CC thing to get my GPA back up and transferred to a university, had to transfer again and pretty much start over after 2 years because my program got cut, and graduated at 28.

It was an ordeal but I'm sure as shite glad I completed it though. I couldn't imagine how my life would be if I didn't go back and finish.

It's never too late or too long.

You have 50 years of life ahead of you. Taking a couple extra years to graduate really won't mean much in the long run.

National average is like 4.6 years, so there are those that go over. It is fine.

If you have the means you can take as long as you want.

Took me 6 years to get my engineering degree from LSU. Looking back at it i definitely regret the fricking around costing me 2 years. If i was able to do it again I would have done undergrad in 4 and immediately went got my MBA. I would just consider every year in your 20's is a gift. Use them wisely and it can set you up for success for the rest of your life

I did 5.5 years undergrad, 2.5 grad.

It took a while for me to figure out how to study, I never had before college. LSU was too much fun as well. Probably best not do what I did. I work as a mechanical engineer (not one off the degrees I got from LSU) and have enjoyed my career up to this point. I have really interesting projects that are very challenging, so it all worked out I guess.
