How is New Orleans doing - flooding?

I've read the posts about the obvious failing pumps. New Orleans appears to be taking on a lot of rain the next week or so. It isn't facing any dire flooding issues, right?

In athletic shoes today to puddle jump, but high and dry around the city for the most part.

Hadn't actually rained that much the last few days.

From Harvey - No
Its a ticking time bomb though. Any above average rainstorm will flood NO and we still have Sept. to get through. Not a question "if" but "when" and "how bad".

Southeast Louisiana has been blessed that dry air worked into the south and east side of this storm, or this would have been much worse for us. Prayers for areas west of here.

Haven't gotten much rain at all. But anything like what Houston reveived in one day would put the city in critical condition

From best I can tell we are at or above normal operating capacity. Everyone just became aware last month.

What does this mean? "From best I can tell"?

Reading articles, seeing a list of what is out and how long it has been out.
I don't think it is 100%, but the truth is it doesn't seem like it ever was.

Mitch is President of the SWB so we don't have anything to worry about.

Not raining. Sun is out. Drizzled a little earlier.

Nola's pump system >> Houston's waiting on gravity to get water through the shipping channel

mobile and east Mississippi also got poured on the last 36 hours. Not sure how New Orleans would have handled that storm.

I personally would side with gravity vs fighting gravity.

City looks fine from what I have seen. Got a pretty nasty band maybe 30 minutes ago, but it moved so fast it couldnt do much. My rain guage since the storm got here says 7.25 inches , but it never really felt like it was that much - fortunately it was spread out.

Never got any heavy rainfall. Lucked out and the rain bands were east and west of NO. The problem all has to with 3+ in. of rainfall w/in hour. Not devastating flooding but low lying areas of the city will see street flooding, damage to cars parked in low spots, and ground level flooding. This is why most of the houses in NO are built up a couple feet. If the rain is spaced out then no problem.

It's fine. Small little showers but that's pretty much everyday this time of the year. No street flooding. Gonna be a great weekend.
