How do you switch from private sewer to city sewer system?

How do you go about getting the city (Baton Rouge) to take over the responsibility of maintaining your sewer system? Our subdivision has its own private lift station, but I would be curious as to how we would go about joining BTR’s sewer system (so they can maintain the pumps/grinders)?

The smart play would be to start by calling the city water and sewage dept instead of asking the OT.

The office of public works is not nearly as entertaining...nor as knowledgable...as the OT.

Calling them and jacking around for way longer than it should take is Plan B.

If you have a private system there is likely not a public main close enough to tie in to. A force main goes from the lift station to the closest manhole.
Check with the city though. Things may have been added since the lift station was first built. Good luck.
