There are all kids of products to remove buildup and hazing from headlights. But I don't really see anything to prevent this. I'd rather than deal with it after it hazes. Anyone have any luck with this or know of any preventative methods?

I thought this was going to be about some kind of frat hazing where they shine headlights into pledges' eyes.

Hazing only accumulates because of overuse when driving at night... I suggest trying to limit your headlight use while driving at night.

You will want to use a synthetic wax/sealant on your headlights and tailights.

Not really. Hazing occurs when the UV coating from the factory wears off of your lights. The Sun starts to fade the plastic and make it hazy.

I'll reply seriously because no one else will...

First, get a tub of Country Crock butter. Has to be CC due to the base stock of oil they use. Massage it on your lenses thoroughly and let dry.

Second, take some Pepsodent white toothpaste and vigorously wipe until all the butter is removed and you have a good film of toothpaste left. Let dry.

Final step is to take some Marvel Mystery Oil and buff it to a smooth shine.

Try it today....

I'm not sure what actually prevents the hazing from occurring but, bug repellant does an excellent job of removing the discoloration. It's amazing how well it works. It chemically dissolves it and you just wipe it away.

You kind of can with wax, but it won't work for bigger stuff at high speeds. Have you ever seen the front end if a fast car that gets driven fast on the road a lot? That's basically what happens to your headlights.

Just compound them when they get bad. Don't even worry about the special kits. They are just rubbing compound anyway
