How do you discipline your dog?

I've always used the whole time out deal but I'm getting mixed results from this pup. Sometimes he comes out and does exactly what I kenneled him for in the first place, others it's like he's learned his lesson. Clicker training has worked well for commands but I want to try and get a grip on his rowdiness before he matures.

Any other techniques I should try?

My dog is a tank. I could hit him in the head with a shovel and I'll lose a good shovel. Pointing at him with my finger with a stern look on my face works.

Shotgun. It's rough on the dogs and you go through a lot of them, but when you find one that picks up what you're putting down before you shoot him, you've got a pretty much self-training dog at that point.

Give him a trophy whether he does right or wrong. This is the message for raising kids nowadays. Might work with the pooch.

Pop in rear end and with a strong voice inflection

I can look at my dog a certain way and she knows she has done something wrong and cowers. She got very few spankings because with a stern look and voice inflection accompanied, the need for the spanking is dissolved

People need to realize that dogs are only going to respond to you if you show and preserve your dominance in all situations. Dogs exert dominance physically, so it takes physical training in order to fully train a dog, and that does NOT mean hurting them.

Dogs are intelligent animals, but you can't expect him to understand that being kenneled is punishment for doing something you don't want him to do. He doesn't have the neuromechanics to understand it.

That's why as soon as he does something he shouldn't, you get on his arse with a deep voice and pop one good time. He'll get the point quick and will stop doing it whatever he is doing because he will associate that behavior with the punishment

Get the rolled up paper after her and she'll straighten up.

Then you can start addressing your dog's issues as well.

he no longer sees you as a leader, therefor he won't listen. I absolutely will not put up with a dipshit dog that thinks it can do what it wants.

I love the frick out of my lab and she loves me back, but she damn well knows who's boss. Never have an issue with her.

I would not use the kennel as a form of punishment. The kennel should be the dog's little sanctuary and he should be comfortable there, so using the kennel for punishment is counter-productive.

I get a yardstick and slap it against the counter or other solid object and then point it at the dog and use a firm voice. The downside is that whenever I need to actually use the yardstick, they go scurrying away.
