I have a daughter that regularly stays up all night and sleeps during the day. My wife says it is common. What can you tell me?

Same with me and didn't have a name for it but it usually always fell after a night with an 8 ball.

vamp
verb
gerund or present participle: vamping
1.
attach a new upper to (a boot or shoe).
2.
repeat a short, simple passage of music.
"the band was vamping gently behind his busy lead guitar"
The first probably isn't as common as it used to be because shoes are so cheap. The second is extraordinarily common.

I thought you meant the consumption of human blood.
I do that once a month.

It sounds like little Johnny is coming in and banging her all night while you sleep

"Vamping"?
Do we have to name everything?

I dunno. But it's probably cooler than vaping.

Personally I think it has something to do with diet or hormones. It also seems to affect females more than males and mostly in teen years(which would indicate hormones again) but isnt exclusive to teen years. I have two female friends Ive known since 14-16 years old and they both did this then and still do it to this day. Ive always called them "night owls". Never heard the term "vamping".
I also have an anthropological theory about this. In tribal, pre-civilization times and even beyond, there were those who had to stay awake at night to guard the village against attacking rival tribes and dangerous wildlife. Im wondering if there wasnt a certain small segment of every isolated human gene pool that independently developed the trait to be better adapted to staying awake and functioning at night and its carried over into modern times. Id be curious to know of a possible correlation between being a "night owl" and low-light adapted vision. I know the reverse is true for me. Im 100% diurnal and my night vision is absolute garbage.
