How can i use my fema disaster loan?

Do they just deposit $ in your account? Do they monitor how it is used?

Ok now that this has played out ... Does anyone have any experience with this? Are there strings attached? Example : no refinancing loans etc...

Depends on if you have a mortgage. If you have a mortgage you will likely be co-signatory with the bank. Also, you will have to repair home to the extent you promised to get loan as the home is the loan's collateral.

If you have extra you should be able to spend as you wish. Be careful though. If there is ever a supplemental to provide relief from the loan you won't be able to receive it to the extent you spent it on other stuff.

If you spend the proceeds and don't fix the house has you told SBA you are guilty of fraud.

I know you say this as a joke, but roommate during Katrina spent his $5100 on; a LB of devils lettuce, flat screen tv, kegerator and beer pong table.

I vividly remember him walking into the apartment giddy with joy and telling him, "You're worse than a..(fill in the blank).
