Why are you thinking about a fat coworker at 330 on a Sunday morning?

When I was micro-managing my diet and working out 6-7 days a week, my Diet Coke experience had the effect on my body of consuming an extra 350 calories, per 12 oz can of Diet Coke.

IMHO, I just don't think the human body knows what to do with those chemicals and tends to store them in fat to protect itself.

But can you imagine how much more out of shape they would be if they consumed half a dozen regular cokes each day? That's another 900 calories per day, 6300 each week, 27300 per month = 7.8 pounds gained each month just from regular drinks.

In conclusion, don't drink soft drinks.

Then why the did you ask if Diet Coke is bad? You have seen in shape people drink it. You're also checking out the big girl drinking it. So what's the conclusion here? Yes, Diet Coke is bad when drunk in EXCESS. One a week or so probably won't affect you much.

Why don't you follow Slapahoe's model and I'll drink one a week? After six months we will bump this thread and finally put an end to these questions.

Sugar Free soft drinks aren't a problem. Eating 2000 plus calories a day might be.

That's definitely plays a role. I don't drink soft drinks so I really don't have any actual experience to draw from. I thought the fake sugar was worse for you than the real stuff?

Go to bed. All I was doing was defending diet drinks.

Didn't mean to offend your diet drink consumption.

Pretty sure it is linked to brain tumors.

Will be the tobacco industry in the next 50 years defending what they already know now.

I think this is a correlation vs causation issue.

People who consume lots of flavored drinks, regular or diet, or probably significantly more likely to seek out pleasurable foods as well ... and we all know that really tasty stuff is bad for you.

I think it is entirely possible that should diet drinks not exist then these "over drinkers" would simply consume massive amounts of high calorie drinks and would therefore be that much worse off.

I'm not saying diet drinks aren't unhealthy, just speculating that they are the lesser of two evils for many people and that I don't think they are the cause of someone's weight problems.

There is nothing wrong with diet coke. It doesn't make her fat. That would be the 4,000 calories she consumes each day. All the other stuff one hears is quackery. Pseudoscience that also suggests all these herbs and teas and vitamin combos cure cancer and kept you erect into your 80s.
