I ask this question stating that I have documented initial inquiries and follow-up e-mail documentation for a minimum of 5 different companies that I would like to do business with over a three week period.

In other words, I want your product and I want to sell your product. Simply put, I am trying to give you money.

And you won't call me back? Or respond?

Is business that good for most business that an acknowledgement (other than an auto-generated email response) is not needed?

Or is it a breakdown in communication from within a company, or five in this case?

I don't get it. If I were a leader of one of these companies and after verifying that information was mishandled repeatedely, I'd fire every single sales person or the person responsible for sharing information with said sales person that did not respond to business.

How is your day going?

Maybe they reviewed your post history and don't want you owning their product.

The Rouge Collection is going to be re-branded. Soon to be called Brown Gravy.

I'm starting my own competing publication. Yes, White Gravy.

We've been trying to get some work done to our building like new signs and whatnot and for some reason, it's like we have to chase people with money to get them to do it.

It's as if they don't want any business.

I've chalked it up to most people being completely unorganized.

Yeah - I ignore Quote collectors too. I'm in business to make money, not help people collect quotes . They are the 20% of time wasters I avoid at all costs because they prevent me from being more profitable and efficient. If you want an appointment, my appointment setter will be more than happy to arrange a friendly consultation at your earliest convenience.

This really baffles me. I blame this not on the sales person ... I'd blame it on upper management or their direct hire. They're the stupid ones who hired them. And they're the worthless leader that isn't close enough to their business.

I get that. Trust me, I do. I can appreciate where you are coming from. Goes back to "don't pitch the bitch" at the front desk because she isn't the decision maker. I'm not a quote collector.

I have provided the information that is being requested in their own questionnaire along with all of the applicable and required IDs. And they still won't respond.

Is it recurring type of work you're looking to be had done? Or a one time deal?

I've noticed with recurring business, a lot of salesmen get lax as frick because they think the business will keep rolling in.

That's when I go swoop up new clients that actually pay for service.

First rule in sales, people buy from people.

The thing is, it's not a big company with a bunch of salesman or anything. It's literally the owner of the company trying to sell what he and a few guys can do. He's a nice dude and all but it took way longer than it should have.

The job is almost completely done at this point, but he got dangerously close to us finding someone else because it was tough to get in contact with him.

It seems customer service in all trades, industries, and businesses has gone down the shitter in general.

Recurring.

I'm just trying to get set up. If they want to take a "break' afterwards, fine - no issues here - I am self-sufficient.

But call someone back. Or e-mail. Or acknowledge.

No one likes to be ignored.

I call people all the time and say "hey, I want to buy Product A, but I need to know all the prices and fees, so I can get it approved" it's amazing how many people never respond and I am not talking about pennies here, all of those should be decent commissions with little to no follow up afterward(which is awesome for a salesman). basically I am asking for an order taker and they still dont help

maybe they researched your company and dont believe that you are a legit and qualified customer. Some companies get inundated with tire kickers and arent interested wasting their time with you.

Some companies possibly have representation in your market.

They probably already have dealers or distributors who have invested in stocking their products, training their dealers how to service the product, and are doing well for them in a certain area.

I have 4 hardware stores. One side of it I sell outdoor power equipment. I have a protected area for certain brands that I carry. In exchange I have to invest in stocking x amount of product, servicing the product, and keeping x amount of parts on hand. I also have to sell x amount of product each year.

Why would they want a jackleg to come in that has no financial investment in their product, and destroy a market their present distributor built for them? That person they messed over could come back and push another product and take them out of the market!
