I like the Paris Hilton. The back entrance is very accommodating.

If you have 2 people or less, hotels will work fine. If you have 3 or more the hotels in Paris can be difficult without renting an extra room. Airbnb worked great for my family of 5. We stayed in a 3 BR apt. near the Arch and had a blast.

AirBNB or VRBO.
I wanted a kitchen to cook with local ingredients while I was there. I'd highly recommend that route. Hotels in Europe are postcard sized.

Hotel du Louvre
If you are going to be doing the first time touristy stuff, there is no better location than this hotel to get around the city.
Also, do the catacombs. No one ever mentions it, but it is awesome.

The wife and I are going to Paris for Thanksgiving.
We are looking very closely at Hotel Bel Ami. Looks great for our purposes and in a great location in St Germain, which is the area I want to stay.
We are also looking at Airbnb. Paris has the most airbnb rooms of any city in the entire world. Lots and lots of options, some of them quite luxurious.

Unless I was staying for a day or two, I definitely think apartments are the way to go.

We stayed at the Hotel St. Germain des Pre (I think des pre was part of its name). It was a very quaint hotel, staff very nice. I would definitely stay there again.

Hotel de la Motte Piquet
It's one block away from Rue Cler with all of the outdoor shops, walking distance to the ecole Militaire (3-4 blocks) and walking distance to the Eiffel Tower (5-6 blocks).
Plus there's a great little bar on the corner called La Terrasse that was great for a cold brew after a long day of touring.
It was also only 2 blocks away from a subway stop

Ya, apartments are usually probably the right answer.
HOWEVER,
If you sign up for a Hyatt credit card you'll get 2 free nights at any Hyatt property in the World.
You get your wife one, she will get 2 free nights as well.
You add that up, 4 nights at the Park Hyatt Vendomme. Room rates are over 700 euro a night. Some folks use the certs on the Maldives.
Do it just to say you did it
