I'm looking to purchase a good front projector. Need suggestions. I heard Epson is good. Please give model numbers if you own one; Also, what screen do you have...do you like it or not. Thanks.

In general, you want to give information about your own situation if you want to be given good advice on something.

Just saying.

Someone may come in here raving about his projector and it is really good for his setup in a windowless room, but it sucks for your room with two full walls of windows.

There is almost never a "Well this is the best one to have so just get it" situation in anything.

epson 8350 is one of the better ones. handles pretty much any configuration well. its also one of the more popular ones and has been around for a while, so you can see they have a good track record. I love mine. watching football right now on a 120" screen.

Mine stays on from 8am until 10 pm every night. thats been going on for almost 2 years now.

Have an EPSON 2030, does 1080p and 3D. Don't have a screen and even though it can enhance the picture, you don't really need it.

I understand what you are saying but if I am too anal and specific in the beginning, it will turn readers off and I would like their input regardless if their specs are different from mine. But thanks Volvagina, I'll keep in mind the future.

I did a lot of research before I bought mine. The BenQ models have a lot of bang for the buck. I got the BenQ W1070 1080P 3D and an Elite Screen 120" for about 1300 total off amazon. Zero complaints.

Ill tell you one thing, projectors will ruin watching tv on a normal television. the picture is so much better and the large screen size lets you see stuff you never would see on a tv even half the size of the projector screen.

Another vote for Epson, but I have the 9350, has a few more options than the 8350 but probably not worth the extra cost. I also have a 120" screen. It's in a dedicated media room (no windows). Great picture normal HD tv. Incredible picture with blue rays.

Epson Powerlite w17.

Does full 1080p, only has one HDMI port but a selector changed that.

BTW I have two windows in the room with it and it works just fine day or night

ETA: No screen

I have the epson 5030 and elite screens 135" motorized in-ceiling.

Everything about the setup is perfection in my master bedroom, with viewing distance around 16 feet, mirage omnican speakers, SVS sub, and marantz sr6006 receiver. Sources are directv, roku3, and a cheap samsung bluray player (gonna get an Oppo pretty soon), and sonos box for music.

It blows my fricking mind on a daily basis, we watch movies or tv on this system almost every night. The brightness is enough for daytime viewing in this room, the 3D is frickin crazy sick.

BY FAR best money ive ever spent on electronics.

Do it.

A lot of Epson love going here, but I chose Panasonic AE8000 over the 8350 Epson. 120" Elite 1.1 gain screen with 3 large windows (have shutters).

Another vote for the Epson 8350. Have almost 4000 hrs on it and still satisfied. I have a large room with no windows and no screen. Find a good drywall guy and use Sherwin Williams brilliant white paint. My screen size is 12ft on diagonal for satellite feed and 15ft for blu-ray.
