History buffs: I visited Yorktown yesterday

Visited the battlefield, and saw where the French and American troops gave the business to the Brits. Also saw where they surrendered and basically recognized us as a nation. 'Murica.

Watch the video at the visitors center on that battle. It is amazing to me the French were on our soil fighting. Also found it funny the initial settlement at Roanoke; the local Indian Chief said he killed them off because his priest had a vision that the white man would kill him, take his land, and remove their people. He was spot on.

If Indians had fought the Europeans from the get-go, starting with Columbus, they wouldn't have stopped them, but they might have been able to work out a better deal for themselves.

By the mid 1600s, there was already so much action on the east coast. Spain was all over the Americas. The British were late to the game. They almost missed out.
