High speed chase near Natchitoches

Anyone know what was going on? Had a friend post that she was just in the middle of this while traveling.

Just passed it. Ten cop cars at least. Old pickup truck. Looks like the guy fled into the woods. Well north of nachitoches.

It's MM 172. Front of truck -- presumably that of the fugitive -- was smashed in pretty bad. This did not end well for him.

DeSoto Parish Sheriff Rodney Arbuckle says the pursuit continued north on I-49 and entered DeSoto Parish. Deputies with the DeSoto Parish Sheriff's Office used a spike strip around the 172 mile marker in an effort to get the driver to pull over. Deputies say after running over the spikes, the vehicle exited the roadway and hit a tree.
The driver reportedly suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound and was taken to an area hospital.

Drove through around 2:00pm yesterday and noticed a State police SUV and 2 wreckers with what looked like a burned truck off in the grass. Didn't think much of it until I noticed a news van behind the LSP SUV. Then I figured something must have happened to warrant them covering it on the news. Obviously this story makes sense of what I saw.
