Heroin laced with elephant tranquilizers is hitting the streets

CNN Report
quote:
Carfentanil is the most potent opioid used commercially, 10,000 times stronger than morphine. It is a version or analogue of fentanyl, the painkiller that most recently made headlines with its role in the death of pop star Prince.
Carfentanil can slow breathing significantly. It's not approved for human use but is used commercially to sedate large animals, such as elephants. About 2 milligrams can knock out a nearly 2,000-pound African elephant.

Hamilton County Heroin Task Force Director Tom Synan added that almost all the recent overdoses are in the same area on the west side of Cincinnati, leading officials to suspect it's all the same batch. Cincinnati is in Hamilton County.
Synan said the county has seen close to 90 heroin overdoses since this weekend.

Goddamnit, when are we going to make this shite illegal? fricking ridiculous. People are just going to keep dying if we don't pass some laws to put a stop to this madness.

Awesome, the local DEA task force can Now apply for a $2,500,000 grant to help "fight the problem".

Some chemist putting the hero in heroin.

Jennings Co. in Southern Indiana (just across the river from here) had something like 13-14 ODs in a 12 hour period recently and suspected the same thing. And their population is only about 28-29,000.
If we spent half as much in the "War on Drugs" addressing the transition in addicts from prescription opioids to heroin vs. marijuana (and not just with jail time), we'd be much better prepared for crazy shite like this. And it's only going to get worse.

I hope you don't have a relative or friend who got addicted to painkillers and moved to heroin because he/she can't get a scrip.

yeah i mean people are calling out heroin junkies b/c they're getting a spiked dose
that's pretty fricked up on many moral levels
we're not talking about dealers getting these sort of negative responses
