Maybe I should have said carbohydrate, sugar, or specifically fructose. Some people like to minimize the intake of this, particularly in the AM when insulin sensitivity is greatest. You might use a few blackberries and raspberries, both relatively low in sugar, but very high in phytonutrients.
My protein shakes are generally:
1cup almond milk
1/2 - 1 cup egg whites
1-2 TBSP of flax, chia, and hemp seed
Small handful of blackberries
Maybe 1/2 - 1 cup of raw oats
Not as sweet and fun as some others listed, but I would argue, better for glycemic load.
