So this morning I woke up with a splitting headache on my left side that felt like it was pushing my eyeball out. My vision was blurry so I headed to a mirror to see if it looked different. I quickly realized my left eye is blood shot and the pupil is tiny compared to the other. Called the doc who said they wanted to see me immediately. When I went in they took me straight back and acted like this was some huge deal resulting in a ambulance ride to the E.R.

Apparently having one pupil much smaller than the other is a sign of brain issues so they did a brain scan and it came back ok. They seemed completely stumped at what was causing the issue. After the doctors consulted with the internet they said I either needed a neurosurgeon or a optometrist and sent me on my way with a scrip for hydrocodone to help with the headache.

With Monday being a holiday I cant even call a specialist until Tuesday at the earliest. Needless to say having one huge pupil and one small pupil looks creepy as shite. Its like staring at Marilyn Manson in the mirror. That combined with the headache and blurred vision has me worried.

Any of the OT crowd have any idea what can cause this other than brain issues? From what I read its usually caused by tumors, blood clots, stroke or severe head injury. I know it can't be that since the scan came back normal.

Migraine probably.

Had my first on Monday.

Stroke-like symptoms. Dad said it was an ocular migraine.

pics or it didn't happen.

I actually unknowingly got some scopolamine in my eye putting a motion sickness patch on my girlfriend and it blew both my pupils. I thought I was having a stroke. Those mofos did not respond to light...was freaking me out.

I'm 34......... they actually asked first thing about motion sickness patches.

Not going to post a pic of myself looking creepy for the fark board to play with but here is what it looks like. But the side with the smaller pupil on me is bloodshot and the eyelid is sort of droopy.

Did they do a CT or MRI?

You very well could be experiencing "Cavernous sinus thrombosis"

Cavernous sinus thrombosis

Well that certainly doesn't put my mind at ease. Yikes!

It was a CT scan. About a month ago I was knocked out by a falling rock (I am a mineral miner) but it was on the right side and not a big deal IMO since the scan showed nothing.

The eye is bloodshot, slightly bulging and there is a headache directly behind the eye. My vision is pretty blurry on that side and the eye lid is droopy... like in this pic. Could a migraine really cause all that?

That picture of the girl is what my eyes looked like when it started to wear off in one eye before the other. Looked fricking weird.

Did the hospital not have neurosurgery coverage?

quote:

Horner's syndrome?

Good call but with the severe headache there is usually some underlying cause.
