I've kind of just vaguely followed all this monument stuff, but do these politicians in Louisiana honestly think that removing some statues is going to make Louisiana a better and more attractive place to live? Like that is the one thing missing?

No, they're just pandering an opening Pandora's Box.

Once these floodgates open, it's going to be open season on everything.

It never was about making the state better. It's about Mitch trying to make a name for himself by pandering to the ignorant. He thinks he has a shot at a national election or as a high dollar lobbyist or some stupid shite.
The black mayors of Nola who came before him didn't give a shite about the monuments and neither did probably 95% of Nola residents

I guess it helps their chances of re-election if their constituents are a bunch of sensitive snowflakes who get offended really easy.

That's a little low. Try 99.99% of the 350k people living in the city. That number raises to 99.999% when you talk about people from the city.

He did it to get his name out in front of some controversy. He just started using the monuments this week to make moves nationally

Even if this bill passes, I believe the monuments will come down. I dont think the 65% of Orleans Parish blacks will vote to keep them up.
