So what stops illegal gun buying?

First, how about we stop the legal gun buying (gun shows, private sales where no background checks are performed) done by mentally ill and potentially violent people who have restraining orders/domestic violence in their histories.

America would not be a democracy if not for the right of the people

Hell the voices of a few thousand in our nation have drastically changed many things that have stood the test of time of our past. We can no longer fly this flag or that flag. We can no longer say the pledge of allegiance because it may offend someone. You can't pray in church, you can't speak your mind in a public setting without being labeled. This may all be for a different conversation at a different time, but I just feel like America is heading for a downward spiral.

I understand your views and stance on the police and the government. The same could be said for just about anything out there though. What's stopping the military from becoming a rogue militia looking to overpower our government and run things their way? It's just crazy to think that on a day to day basis people are murdered in cold blood by firearms, but it's only important if it involved race vs race, or if there were more than 2 or 3 victims. I know I'm blabbering, I'm just at a loss here at this point. It seems the longer this discussion goes on, the less likely there will ever be a solution to the problem.

You kidding with this?

- You can fly any flag you want to, it's not illegal.

- Show me one place you cannot say the pledge of allegiance.

- You can't pray in church? Really?

- Freedom of Speech doesn't include freedom from the repercussions of your speech. You can say whatever you want if you are willing to take what comes with it. The point is, it's not illegal.

Completely untrue. Honduras is the most dangerous country.

- There have been instances in the news where businesses, or residents have been ordered to take down their flag. It's not illegal to fly any flag, correct, but you could face life threatening situations if you choose to fly certain flags.

- You cannot say the pledge of allegiance in school because of the "one nation under god" line. It may offend some students

- I meant to say school, not church lol

With that said, I didn't say that it was illegal to do those things (although I can see where it would be assumed that's what I meant, sorry).

Is it up that high? That's astounding . *shrug* I never pay attention to those things anyway. It doesn't make a difference to me. My life won't be judged by how many upvotes/downvotes I receive on message boards across the internet.

I honestly feel nothing. I had an opinion and I expressed it. If people don't agree with it, that's cool. I'm not the type to get all hissy pissy because someone doesn't like what I have to say. It's their right to hate it and dispute it. It's just a conversation on a pretty hot topic. If this same question was posed to a board that wasn't filled with god fearing, gun toting, southern folk then I probably would have more upvotes because the general population outside of the South wants all guns removed from general public. I invite those idiots to build a town and see how long their town stays running.

However, there needs to be a way to curtail the criminal activity associated with guns.

As long as there is a demand for guns, people will get guns, legally or illegally. What you're proposing is a way to regulate behavior & culture. I don't know how you fix that.

Enforce the laws we already have...pretty simple.

But people will get guns if they really want them.
