He was living the dream.

Yes. One of my first jobs was washing dishes. I dropped a plate one night and the chef/owner, a drunk Cajun, walked over and kicked all the racks of dishes until everything was broken. Guess he was having a bad night. Didn't need that type of shite for 4 bucks an hour. Walked out.

I quit my high school job without notice. The bitch owner came in and started yelling at me in a drunken rage about something I had nothing to do with. After she was done, I just got up and left. It was the summer in between high school graduation and starting college so I said frick it and didn't get another job all summer.

That's a shitty aspiration. I mean i get it if you have a horrible boss or whatever, that it would be gratifying to show them you don't need them, and they in fact will miss your services. but to WANT to quit just to do it as a bucket list thing? idk.

well I don't want to quit it just to quit, but instead to quit a job I hate by walking out.

Your mom quit in the middle of a "job" last night, when you see her tell her thanks for nothing.

5 minutes before finishing closing up at the fast food restaurant I had been working at for a couple months in college I sliced a large vein in my wrist open on a broken pickle jar that was in the trashbag I was taking out- the last task of the night. I must have walked around for 3 or 4 minutes before I saw I was spraying blood all over the newly cleaned store. It freaked myself and the others out and I drove myself to the ER to get sewn up. I didn't return the next day.

My biggest fear is going through years of professional school with debt and feeling the same way. I would do it as a busser or cashier, but it can be career suicide to do it on a professional level with a real income.

Very true.

Everyone and Everyone is checking you out on linkedIn, especially nosy HR biotches that look for any excuse not to hire you at a large corporation.

She quit on you in the middle of sex? Harsh. Hang in there, man. I promise, it'll get better.

You can't do these with actual responsibilities.

I did not quit on the spot. I was a highly skilled computer analyst. I waited almost a year until they were in the middle of a $50 million project.

I gave 2 weeks notice then moved across the country.

It worked out great for me. Not so well for the b*tch who tried to fire me.....

She finally had to get off her lazy *ss and do all the things I had been doing. She thought I did very little. She found out the hard way.....

I went in there like six months later...and still knew every frick in that place.
That's unusual for retail.

'bout ready to say frick it to the one I have, horrible communication like I'm suppose to be psychic, ever changing and conflicting roles and responsibilities, and the finger pointing from the top is illogical and maddening...

A guy at my job walked out after giving my manager a piece of his mind. I BIG piece.

He went to one of our largest competitors in the region and seems to be doing well...

It was kind of fricking epic... He stood up in the middle of a meeting and slammed his hands on the table and said "Well, You know what, Doug...?" (that's when I knew it was going to get good.) and just laid into him being a micro-managing piece of shite who couldn't find his arse with both hands, a map, and a flashlight. (among other things, but that's what I took away)

Yes, but not a professional job.

This.

Quit a road construction job in the summer once. My dad made me do hard labor in the summers in HS and early college to make me realize how good I have it.

Road construction did the trick

I did exactly that last October, and haven't gotten a job since. I quit for a few reasons, but mainly due to mental issues. Quitting was the only way to determine if job stress was affecting me.

I had taken medical leave before, but only for a month, and I wanted/needed more time than that. Unfortunately, it turns out that my anxiety issues aren't work-related. If anything, staying busy helps mentally.

If I had to do it over, I would have kept my job until I had something lined up. My plan was to get out of the accounting field, but it's not as easy as I was hoping, especially with limited skills in other areas.

I'm either having a mid-life crisis, or I'm an idiot.
