Have you ever had someone scoff/question how much you tipped them?

I see TV shows where waiters/bus boys look at their tip and say something about it's not enough

Does this ever happen in real life?

Yes, left a penny at a Shoneys. Bitch had the nerve to confront girlfriend and I about it at the cash register. She went hood on me so we called her about her shitty waitressing skills in front of her boss. I mean its a fricking buffet at a Shoneys. All she had to do was give us refill on two drinks and she would have received 5 bucks. This must have been over twenty years ago.

I worked in casinos for several years and even in the ghetto places (like a particular downtown riverboat casino) I only saw a dealer do this maybe twice. And those were shitty employees dealing with shitty/drunk players.

Now, I think it happens all the time behind the patrons back, but to their face? Extremely rare. I'd venture a guess that both the employees and the patrons are going playing it up because they know the cameras are there.

Meh... that is kind of a dick move. If you didn't want to tip, then leave nothing, but leaving a penny is more of an "fu" move.

I don't know, but my nephew's wife (straight up trash) is a waitress. People always send me what she post on FB and she is always complaining about how people didn't tip her as much as they should or not at all.. I am thinking.. At some point, you would think that maybe its not them.. Maybe there is a reason its not just one or two people not tipping what they are suppose to.

She is pregnant and her latest post was about how people can see she is pregnant and they don't tip her (as if being pregnant entitles her to a good tip).

My sister, who is my half sister, is married to a guy who is completely insane. He told me at Christmas that he stopped watching the NFL years ago because they wear pink on their equipment and that it doesn't matter what it is for, no man should ever wear pink. That's not even the worse thing I have heard from him, but just to give you an idea.. And my nephew is pretty much the 2.0 version of his dad. So these people are crazy..

But that's all I got.. A waitress who habitually complains on FB about tips.

He apparently did want to leave something but she gave him really shitty service so he wanted to tell her "fu". Try reading it again.

I've worked in restaurants for years and it very rarely happens. Almost all places (except maybe a shitty place like Shoneys) will fire an employee if they do anything close to confronting a guest about a tip. No doubt many want to, but not going to lose their job over it.

I never know what to do at these places. Not that I go often, but there and at Piccadilly. I mean, you bring your food and drink to your table, someone comes and gives you utensils and tells you if you need something let them know. Then they might pick up the plates from your table, but they didn't take my order, go put it in so it could be prepared, etc. I usually just put one or two dollars on the table.

At trashy restaurants, not knocking you but at a nice restaurant servers don't give impressions about tips. They're "professional servers."

I would think that it would get back to the people she works for. I don't know if she ever called out anyone specifically.. Thinking about it, I need to check Yelp to see if anyone has complained about the service there, but I would think if she continues it will end up coming back to bite her in the arse. She is a dumbfrick.

Had a dealer just flat out keep begging for tips on roulette one night. She was getting pissed if anyone won and didn't basically hand her the winnings. Once she got mad, she started fricking with the ball it seemed. All of a sudden no one won shite until she left.

I read it. To what end would an FU to a ghetto employee at a fricking Shoney's accomplish, other than letting everyone know that he's a dick? Did he think he was going to change her waiting habits? That the boss at a place like that was going to reprimand an employee? Was he wanting a free meal? You get what you pay for at places like this. It was all just a waste of time and a penny.

One way to assure you will not get tips is to beg for it..

My parents moved from Chicago to Memphis and handed each of the three movers a 20 and the guy said "20% is a customary tip." It was a small percentage of the truck and they broke a ton of shite too.

My standard tip at a buffet restaurant is $2. You get in and out fairly quickly and all they do is maybe bring you a couple refills. If 5 tables an hour give them $2 that's $10 an hour and I'm sure they average more than 5 tables an hour

Yup. Picked up a to go order once that was like a $10 order. All the bar tender did was hand it to me but I still tipped him $1 (10% for to go orders). Came back after a sec to get straws or something and he was complaining to some guy at the bar with a sarcastic "thanks for the dollar".

Tipping in a casino? What can any of these people do for or against you? If a dealer cheats, at a minimum, he will be fired and blackballed from ever working in a casino again. The dealers do not share in my losses, why should I share my winnings with them?

I tip casino cocktail waitresses as I would any server, however.

At Mcsorely's in NYC the bartender/server would often tap his hand with the other hand and say more. I had seen him do it many times. I heard one guy say, "ok how much then" and he responded with "whatever you think is fair."

You're going out of your way to stick it to them. Sorry, but it was a dick move and you should have seen her going hood on you coming

In my experience, being pregnant helped tips. More than likely she isn't a very good server

Absolutely. Especially if you're a guy leaving a phone number with a $2 tip

Our tipping culture sucks. Until people are willing to pay the labor cost with the price of the meal it will never change
