Have you been burgled, robbed, or had something stolen?

Most of my friends have had something stolen from them at some point in time and I guess we’ve all just accepted it as normal, which really sucks if you think about it.

Please share your age and list the incidents where you were burgled, robbed, or had something stolen from you to see how common it is to the average OT poster. I’m 45 and I’ll start:


1. In college, I had an SLR camera stolen from my car overnight while parked at my apartment complex.

2. Also in college, someone broke into our apartment and stole some cash and our nicest clothes, of all things. My roommate saw a neighbor wearing one of his shirts only a week later, which made for an interesting scene, especially when the cops arrived.

3. A couple of years after college, someone broke into our Cherokee and stole the stereo and sub while parked behind the Varsity during a show.

4. About 10 years ago, I was installing a new stereo in my Jeep CJ, said hello to a kid walking on the street in front of the house after I noticed him staring, new stereo was stolen that night.

5. Two years ago, this good-for-nothing 17 year old with many priors stole my kid’s electric Powerwheels dune buggy and was caught thanks to a passing motorist who found it a little odd that a 17 year old was riding a kids toy down the street and called the cops.


Nothing of significant monetary value, but even 5 times in 25 years sucks.
