Have armed robberies declined since debit/credit use is more prevalent?

I'm curious. Fewer people carry cash these days. Has it had an affect on crime?

iPhone is worth a couple hundred. Credit cards take a couple hours to de-activate.

Most desperate people aren't looking for much any more that they have thought about being caught.

I seem to remember reading an article with an economist making that argument, but I can't find it.

Personally, the only time I've been robbed was when someone snatched my debit card while I was using an ATM in New Orleans. Before I got it deactivated, there was a $1000 charge at a gas station. My bank reimbursed me though, thankfully.

What the hell did they buy at a gas station for $1000?

My bank did some investigating before refunding me. Apparently the $1000 dollars was all liquor and cigarettes.

Fuel for 2 cartel 18 wheelers. Who were broke and their whole mission depended on stealing his card.

I just know telling the dregs "I don't have cash" is more legitimate than it was a decade ago.

It works wonders at the gas station on Florida.

Doesn't work on Highland, it's still "oh come on every one got some change." I've just about quit going to any of the stores right there just above campus because of it.

I doubt it; robbers are dumb. We had an idiot rob a decent hotel here recently. How much cash could they have at the desk?

Had someone rob/snatch my debit card in college and start running. Jokes on them. It had about $6.40 in the account.

So damn annoying. LSU needs to have that shite cracked down on so close to campus. Can't walk to CVS or Highland Coffee after dark without seeing that dude on the bike asking for money.

I know an old man who carries 2 wallets at all times. One has fake cards and bs in it if he gets robbed, he can hand it over.

Still not sure if hassle or wise.

Great. Now I'm going to worry and ask for both wallets. Jerk.
