One time I was jogging through a neighborhood and there was a sleeping pitbull in one of the yards. By the grace of God he didn't wake up. Was probably worn out from a long day of mauling toddlers

I was on a two lane road and tried to pass a car and a motor home at the same time. While in the left lane, a truck pulled up on a side road. He looked left and never looked right. I had no choice but to hit the gas. He swerved at the last possible second as I got back into the right lane. We bumped back tires. Me, the truck, and the motor coach all pulled over because it was so close and loud enough that nobody could tell who exactly had gotten hit. This was fifteen years ago and I still get anxious just thinking about it.

Driving I-10 from BR to NO in the rain with my dad driving a F-250. It hydroplaned and drifted into the middle before they had the safety cables. He couldn't get it to respond and we went completely across and hit the back of the tanker truck. I just remember knowing it was inevitable, so I thought about how drunks survive more accidents because they don't respond and tense up. I closed my eyes and let my body relax so I couldn't tell what part was going to hit. Broke the seal to the tank and rear axle of the tanker. Luckily, they just emptied their corrosive load. 18-wheeler driver said they couldn't get out because of how disfigured we must have been. Turned out we did at least 3 complete spins back into the middle, big toolbox flew out of bed and was 200 yards away scattered across the road, and truck was totaled. Walked away with concussion, bruises, and pulled muscles. Not even one cut on us.

ETA: After, my Dad told me he can't count how many prayers he said in those couple of seconds crossing the interstate. Crazy thing is he knew we were dead and was praying that it would be quick and not suffer in a ball of fire or half decapitated.

North Memphis.

And this one time I was trying to corral a bull with a broken femur. Bull got pissed and charged me (yes, even with a broken leg). I knew he had nothing to lose and would try to kill me. I tripped on a tree root on my way to the fence. I thought that was the end.

No. Have had a gun pulled on me a few times, as recently as last October actually, but never have feared for my life. Most pussies are too scared to pull the trigger.

A few times but the majority of them was because of my own bad decisions.

A belligerent Alabama fan jumped on my back in a Tuscaloosa parking garage after the 2011 game (9-6 we won). He was a bout 6'2" 215 or so. Young guy. Just being stupid. I thought he was going to shank me.

Yeah sneaking out your mom's bedroom window when your dad came home from work early. That was a close one!

The first few minutes of this situation were pretty tense...

quote:

The Los Angeles-class nuclear submarine USS Philadelphia ( SSN 690) recently collided with the M/V Yaso Aysen, a Turkish merchant ship. The collision occurred at about 2 am on the morning of September 5 about 30 miles off the coast of Bahrain, a tiny Arab island emirate in the Persian Gulf near Saudi Arabia.

The New London Day newspaper reported September 10 that the ships were entangled by the collision and took over an hour to separate. Initial reports after the accident indicated that damage to both vessels was minor. Note that prudent seamanship calls for two ships entangled after a collision to remain together until their damage assessment assures that separation won't result in one, or both, sinking.

The later reports indicate that the Yaso Aysen approached the USS Philadelphia from the submarine's port quarter and overrode the submarine, damaging the screw and rudder, the sailplanes, a periscope and denting Philadelphia's hull.

The dent in Philadelphia's hull required no small force and probably indicates that the Yaso Aysen did not slacken her speed prior to impact. This impact likely induced a roll to starboard in the Philadelphia. The periscope damage appears curious, but given the severe impact probably occurred during Philadelphia's snap back from the roll of the initial impact.

Yaso Aysen reportedly sustained damage under water and a slice from Philadelphia's sailplane.

I was a cop for over 25 years, plenty of times. Worked narcotics, SWAT, street games, and warrants division in my career. Plenty of close calls.

Was robbed at gunpoint in my own driveway when I was 16. Later found out it was kids younger than me that did it and the gun was supposedly fake(looked real enough to me). Day I was supposed to testify against those wastes of space they were arrested for stealing a car so prosecutor didn't need me anymore to get them locked up.

Another time was coming across a rattlesnake while on a hike with my dogs. Managed to move fast enough down the trail away from it before my dogs realized what it was (I heard and saw it first....dogs just heard it and was looking around).
